Soooooooo, WVU wasn't good enough yet Lousiville Is?

So much for "academic prestige" and all that chit... Ok, VaTech, Clemson, GaTech, FSU to the B-12 (10) and along with WVU, forms an eastern Divison of the B-12 (10) ... now, this is unbalanced and since there would be 5 in the East and 9 in the West... Who in the West wanna' join the B-12 (now 14) Eastern Division?

My thoughts exactly, WVU has a much better football program

than Louisville. Unless Charlie Strong stays at Louisville for a long period of time, it will be just adding another Basketball school. It will be interesting to see if Auburn or UT has any interest in Charlie Strong, which they should with the job he has done at Louisville and the job he has done as an assistant at various stops in the SEC.

Purely money talking...

U of Louisville already spends more $$$ on athletic programs than any ACC school does. Plus they have committed to increase that annual expenditure from present day $85 mil. to $100 mil in three to five years.

They have a 22,000 attendance per game at BB games and a huge facility that is only a few years old. Very good numbers also for FB and is essentially the only game in town. No pro sports to compete.

To a selection committee, they were a no-brainer vs. U of Cincinnati and others.

Swofford taking a tip from Slive and realizing that football is the main focus for athletics.

add Miami and ncst. and remember TCU was going to big east. equals eastern division. If things go that way. imo it will not happen.

IF We Could Get Miami and NCSt....

to go along, that would make seven schools in the geographic east and it would make sense... that means only one team would be the "odd" school not really in the "east" ... to make 2 balanced divisions. Right now, its just wishful thinking, but the fact the ACC went against their own mantra of "only academic prestigious" are worthy to be in the ACC, makes me think that EVERYTHING is fair game.

What it clearly shows is the desperation

that the ACC has now that Maryland has left. They now face reality that the Big 10 is greater and that doesn't even speak of the SEC.
WVU would have been a great fit. I for one will be shocked if the Big 10 doesn't go for 2 more and the Big 12 doesn't do the same.
