Wow seems like I’m the first one to get on here and give kudos.

If you don’t think Brad can develop players, take a look at Hunter Tyson. A pretty good player coming in, but now he’s the first guy to get drafted since Jaron Blossomgame.

Way to go Brad for helping this young man achieve his dreams. And congrats to Hunter for all the work he put in.

an HM.

Hunter, Mother Nature and COVID deserve the credit.

Hunter for his hard work and diligence, mother nature providing another year of physical development and COVID granting Hunter that full 5th year, the time to allow both to happen.

Brad was the only coach in the ACC with 2 All-ACC performers to NOT make the NC2A this year.

2 of 12 and no real accountability in sight?

Yeah RB, I have to agree with dsp. I'll credit Brad, but probably more Neff for bringing in Donlon as an assistant coach.

I remember reading an article with Tyson interview where he credited coach D with helping him with his defense and rebounding technique.

But dsp is correct, he doesn't get the Xtra year and let's not forget, had Hall not have been hurt, Tyson with Brad would have remained in hall's shadow. Kudos to hunter for siezing the opportunity.

For the record, I'm TU'ing the assistant coach part . . . .

I'd TD 100 times the agreeing with dsp part or the dsp was right part, if I could.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Wrong End of the Bugle

Neff allowed BB the funds to bring him in. The insinuation that Neff brought him in against BBs will is a gross mischaracterization of the situation. Neff asked what BB wanted to improve and gave him his wish. This helped HT as documented by HT himself and his draft position confirmed it.
So the Covid year, BB getting assistants who develop players, and HTs grit and talent combined for a really nice story.
You BB haters are like Trump haters, you’ve sold your logic and hate is oozing out of your brain, and you end up pulling against your own team/country.
Somehow, in spite of BB, HT is now a very wealthy young man, with a shot at the big time. I bet HT thinks BB sucks, don’t you?

…doesn’t necessarily mean you are a great coach.

By the way, conflating BB and Trump and using that to insult people you don’t know is childish.

Donlon and Brownell go all the way back to to UNC-W. The price difference was not significant and was less than Brownell’s automatic annual salary increases. He was never obstructed from hiring Donlon or an equivalent assistant. This is pure Brownell Bros bs.

@deadsolidperfect

One thing people will always do is assume things. And especially on TNET.

But if you sit and actually think before spitballing a response, you can see that I gave credit to Hunter for the work he put it, and to Brad for “helping” him. It’s in the last paragraph.

You can’t say that Brad had zero to do with Tyson getting drafted. And you can’t say that he wasn’t developed correctly. Regardless of the situation, and whatever assistant helped him, this is where Hunter Tyson has gotten to.

The point of the post was to acknowledge both Hunter and Brad. Hints the “/“ between Hunter and Brad in the title.

And, the players put in work within the system that their head coach trains them in. Hunter can lift weights and practice on his own sure, but the development of his basketball skill set was developed by a coach. If it was Donlon, then great for Brad for having the right coach in his staff. You need to realize that Brad runs the basketball program. And every decision that is made.

One more thing, PJ Hall is an incredibly better player than his freshman year. And he will almost certainly be drafted next year.

I wonder what percentage of teams with two All-ACC performers have ever not made the tourney? I’d bet it is an extremely small percentage. Brad truly is exceptional.

No need to congratulate a coach in this situation. HT was here for half a decade...

Nuggets looked for another power forward AND a 3 pt. shooter off the bench...With a 7 ft plus pt guard, they liked the way Hunter moved without ball with hands ready to shoot, great additional target for the best or one of the best passers in the NBA

Jokic is 6’10-6’11. Definitely not 7 ft plus.

There’s a difference.

You know he was rated the #34 player coming out of high school...

and was drafted at #37...

This tells me he turned out about like he should have, but it took him one year longer (most guys this good who had any major development along the way would have gone pro after three years).

I'm glad Hunter got drafted, but I really can't see how Brown L contributed to it.
