Dear Mods - THIS moronic Clown asked for it. This was only one in a long line of unsubstantiated, derogatory posts....
Poster: Allowat Nov 29, 2023, 5:52 PM
"He {former Clemson player Jonathan Baehre} didn’t play defense and left with a year of eligibility. Go drink some more! "
. . . .
THIS is what Clemson has to deal with. This is what TNET has to deal with. This is the continuing by-product of the Brownell regime. The uninitiated crossover "fans" from Soccer or Football or Barbies, who know diddly about Basketball, and yet get on this site and run their mouths as if they were Allen Iverson in another life. Or run their mouths about everyone else just to assuage their Ego. For them, it isn't about making Clemson better in any way. They spew opinion without regard to fact, without regard to reasonable argument, without regard to helping the site be informative to those who seek both understanding and camaraderie.
There are a fair number of other versions of “Allowat” on the Board. I only hope that this series begins to illuminate their insincerity.
To wit: Please note the Attachment with Defensive Ratings from the site "SportsReference..com". I have included the last full year's college data for Mr. Baehre and other reasonably known Power Forwards of College Basketball. The 9 Forwards listed at the bottom come from NCAA.com's Andy Katz, under the banner of "Top Power Forwards for 2023-24". This is Mr. Katz's list, not mine.
The group listed at the top immediately under Mr. Baehre are reasonably well-known ACC forwards, a number of which received various All-ACC recognition. These were all selected at random.
SportsReference explains that the DRating is based on 100 possessions, and is Opponent Points divided by Possessions (100). Obviously, the lower the Rating the better.
SOS is Strength of Schedule. Obviously, as well, the higher the number the better.
As a note of information, see that Pete Nance and Armando Bacot have the same SOS (7.66). That’s because they both played for the same team, and the rating was taken from the last year available (2022/23 in this case). Same team, same year = same rating.
Note as well that Clemson’s SOS for 2020/21 was higher than any other team represented in the two lists (mostly from 2022/23).
Most importantly, and contrary to the derogatory and consistently uninformed assertions by said poster, Mr. Baehre’s DRating was better than all but one on the ACC list, and also a fair number of those on the more general "Top Forwards" list.
It is what it is, Brownell sycophants be da.mned.
Welcome to Stark Raving Brad.....

PreparationH. You need a lot of it for your anus. Grinding that ax has really got you chaffed and raw. As for John, if he had a motor like Hunter Tyson, well we’ll never know because he didn’t.

You are right tyler, baehre would have been all ALL ACC and a future NBA player if brownell just gave him 5-10 extra minutes a game playing the SF position. Keep in mind he has never played SF at any level and he was about 7th on the team in about every category except for rebounding. But yeah, he totally deserved more minutes.
Funny that you are offended by me talking realistically about former players l, but are ok with senile mike bashing current players. Weird.

at what point do you as a person simply admit:

1. It's not Brownell's call to limit a player's opportunity. If he's the best player available, he should be playing. Baehre was the best option, and by far, for a small team that played small.
2. The options that we did use at SF - Trapp and Hemenway, alongside Newman - were no better suited for the position than Baehre. The first two were both only 6'3" - Newman was 6'5". At least Baehre offered Defense and Rebounding - exactly what we were missing against Rutgers in the NCAA (Baehre had 7 rebounds in 17 minutes against the Knights even as we were out-rebounded by 9). Indeed, it was Length that they didn't know he had, in addition to his shooting, that ultimately made Hunter Tyson so interesting to the NBA at SF.
3. Baehre might very well would have given Clemson another year had Brownell made him feel a bit more welcome in his year 2 here. Certainly he needed an additional developmental year. Given he was routinely ignored for playing times during games, who would dare question his move to the Pros?
4. When you recruit a transfer player in Basketball, you better know that they are coming for playing time. To not give it to them is hogwash.
5. It was only Brownell's insane emotional commitment to the 3-guard rotation, and the minutes it gave to Honor and Dawes (alongside Newman, Trapp, and Hemenway), that caused Baehre's lack of minutes. But Brownell has forever given preference to Guards even as it doesn't always yield the best team available. This, above all, shows Brownell isn't an instinctive Coach. Instinctive Coaches are forever looking for options outside the Box that challenge their own thinking.
6. You and Brownell suffer from absolute lack of creativity and vision. Can you imagine a 2-1-2 half-court D with the back three as Hall-Simms-Baehre? Prosper-Hall-Baehre? Prosper-Simms-Tyson? That's 6'8" to 6'10" across the backside with nothing but length getting to shooters on the wings and in the corners. What an unbelievable change-up that would have been to Brownell's normal M2M. Again: it's just lack of vision and the possibilities they bring.
You're a putz, Mountaineer. A real putz. I left you off the OP only because I'm tired of dealing with your limited knowledge.

Do you realize that many teams implement a 3 guard lineup? Do you realize jonathon baehre would have been the tallest SF in the ACC that year? No issues with being the tallest SF, but he wasn't very quick.
The facts are simply not on your side. This is all speculation from you.
Jonathon baehre never played the 3 at UNCA, Clemson, and currently does not overseas.
Jonathon baehre did not perform very efficiently in the 16.8 minutes per game that he got (which was 5th on the team.
- 8th in FG% -7th in 3pt % 5th in FT % - 3rd in rebounds per 40min (tied with PJ) - 7th in assists per 40 min - 8th in steals per 40 min - 1st in blocks per 40 min (nice! Screams SF) - 7th in points per 40 min

an unsubstantiated, derogatory post.
Nice to see you working a little satire into your repertoire. You are progressing as a writer.
Still waaaaaay too wordy. But improving. Good for you.
Keep working at it. Eventually, you'll be free of all the errant capitalizations, poor syntax, and shoddy grammar/punctuation.
Nothing commands respect like error-free writing. And the inverse is true, too.
