Still puzzled why the powers that be did not play Cade vs

SC. Heard from an avid fan, a former cheerleader, that a promise was made during the summer to DJ’s Mom that Dabo would see him thru the season.
We can woulda coulda shoulda all we want and the bottom line is the same. But I just can’t fathom allowing the loss to SC and a chance at the Natty.
If that rumor is true then Dabo has an extreme loyalty to his commitments which is a good trait to have.
I wouldn’t have been that loyal.

Still does not answer why he played the whole game. We would have won if they inserted Cade but for some reason did not. This loss is entirely on the coaching staff and we are catching it because of it.

I agree. I can't imagine he promised he would never substitute. That's too extreme. No this one is on Dabo. It's a shame because I doubt there is a Tiger fan who doesn't strongly believe that game was easily winnable with Cade.

To include a chapter solely about the DJ years.
I doubt Dabo promised DJs mom anything other than he will be fair to her son. He isn't going to play a kid based on a. favor to a parent.
I think it's just more that Cade was never prepared to play and when the thought about inserting him they just couldn't trust the decision bc he wasn't prepared by them. He only played bc of a blowout or out of desperation (Syracuse, ND) prior to the SC game.
They know they should have inserted Cade early in the 4th or just before but probably thought, 'hey we are winning and Cade might do what he did in south bend'... I think it's just a fear based decision that we'll never know what would have been.

I would like to address this loyalty bullyshit. IF Dabo played DJ because of some promise made to DJ or his mom or his dad or to Dabo's god even though he was not the best QB, then he betrayed his loyalty to his own morals and to every other member of the Clemson football team.

For whatever reason, and contrary to objective thought, Dabo was going to ride DJ to a win or loss in that game. In many ways it feels like we had to lose the SC game in order to win the ACCCG. If the final possession fumble hadn’t happened and we somehow moved the chains enough to kick a FG for the win, Dabo would’ve stubbornly stuck by DJU through the ACCCG which very well could’ve cost them the championship.
