He's an odd duck anyway, but a freaking warrior when it comes to golf. He's played everywhere and
Even played golf in NY in the snow with Tennis balls out on the course. Now this sounds kinda cool for a hole or two, but this nut plays 18 in blizzards!!! Kinda neat, kinda nuts. Basically, if you need a ski mask to play any sport outside, I'm out.

having themselves a nice Day at the Office out in California!!!

*** Play has been Suspended in the Bahamas (KF Tour) ***

Kudos to Bryson Nimmer . . . 2 Under and Currently T-18th Place.
Kyle Stanley and Billy Kennerly’s +2 has them sitting in a T-83rd Place.
Doc Redman is the only TIGER that didn’t complete his round . . . He has 3 holes to play in the morning before he starts Round 2 . . . He does have a Par 5 to play, so hopefully he can recoup a few strokes.

Was curious about his school, haven't watched much of the tourney. Would like to sse him win. Any idea he can immediately turn pro to claim the purse?

He will know. It is my understanding that the 2nd Place finisher to an Amateur gets the 1st Place Points Awarded, but the 1st Place Prize money is not passed down . . . nor can he claim it should he choose to turn Pro.

Because he competed and won he can turn Pro and have “Winners” status for the remainder of the year.

Tell me I’m wrong Schema , I so hope I am!!!

I am wrong.
Golf.com posted 6 hours ago that the Purse WILL BE PASSED DOWN.
Link:
https://golf.com/news/2024-american-express-purse-monday-payout/

The Desert Sun reports, the FedEx Points are lost . . . I had it bassackwards. . . Sorry!!!
Link:
https://www.desertsun.com/story/sports/golf/american-express-pga/2024/01/20/if-nick-dunlap-wins-american-express-as-amateur-what-happens-to-the-money/72296309007/

The Desert Sun also states in that article:
“Another caveat for Dunlap is that he does not get the privileges that a winner of this event would get, like entrance into the rest of the season's full-field PGA events and a two-year exemption on tour. However, if he were to turn pro at any point during the year, he then would reap those benefits. In other words, if he turned pro in May, he would then be eligible for the rest of the full-field PGA events moving forward if he would win at The American Express.”

So . . . We have answered those questions.

Incredible win for a nice young man. His coach, Jay Seawell, at Alabama, is married to a Clemson grad and comes from one of the finest golf families in South Carolina. His dad, Jackie, who passed a couple of years ago was a long time golf pro from Anderson who taught a bunch of college players here in SC. I’ve known Jay since he was a little boy. Just great people.
