Tailgate TV options

Sep 30, 2022, 9:48 AM

Anyone have any advice on the best way to get tv setup? We have a Roku TV and going to try and stream with a hot spot. I'm not confident this will work. Open to advice and ideas. Thanks and GO TIGERS!

Cell service around Clemson is pretty poor...

on game days, so I think you would end-up learning the hard way that trying to stream video using a mobile hot spot isn't going to work very well for you.

A satellite set-up with a generator or deep cycle marine battery/power inverter is the better option. Just my .02 cents. I've been doing it for years and I've never had a single issue.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

That's what we do and it works just fine. May have a little lag but never been an issue.

Good luck. Last game we were streaming fine until everyone showed up. Right about Tiger a walk time we couldn’t stream anymore.

The only reliable option is satellite or antenna.

I have noticed that AT&T last longer than Verizon. I assume there are way more Verizon users around the stadium.

I loved my satellite but when Directv moved to these digital boxes, it wouldn't work anymore.

My satellite ended up being a shizz show because of where we tailgated. Finally did away with it. I’m already paying for YouTube at the house so it saved me a few dollars.

Who is your provider? Verizon is totally unusable anywhere close to game time or during the game. Can’t open ESPN app, TNet or even get texts.

AT&T… also all hot spots are not created equal. Will depend on your data service. Have seen them link up with another phone but would not give the tv an ip address even though it showed it connected. This lady was with Sprint I do believe. They have supposedly got her fixed up but she will find out for sure tomorrow.

I use my hot spot to stream YouTubeTv and have had little to no issues.

We was thinking about giving this same setup a try. Generator for the TV, mobile hotspot with phone, and youtubeTV.

Getting mixed responses on if this works though

Mine works fine. Can’t speak for everyone’s experiences though.

A 5G hotspot will almost surely work better than any 4G option, which is what most people are using. And if you have AT&T it will probably work better than other carriers.
