And tell me which of these teams is becoming great/elite:

As far as I can see, the portal is not making anyone great. And before anyone mentions FSU, it became obvious what made that team go - great/elite QB play. Without it they were pedestrian at best. LSU? Nah. Colorado? No. So who is becoming great via the portal?
It all starts with a great QB and goes from there. That’s todays game.

Michigan wasn't too shabby and they took 9 portal in the off-season.
Washington was a pretty good team this year and they took 10 transfers.
Texas turned out ok this season with their 5
***Bama not shabby with their 5. Bama also took 4 juco players that are starting or in the 2 deep.
Oregon wasn't too shabby and they took 15.
Ohio St not too bad with their 9
Saying, maybe you need to rethink your argument you're trying to make. Fact is, Dabo needs to use the portal.

Dabo doesn't need to use the portal. Look at Oregon, Ohio State, FSU and even with those portal additions they didn't make the playoffs this year or last year. Dabo on the other hand had Clemson in a playoff game last year against Tennessee and by Dec 29th he will be telling everyone this years Gator Bowl game against Kentucky is a playoff game.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

again, the portal isn't about a complete make over for a team

it's about finding players to plug into know holes on your team (due to attrition, lack of development, etc).

It's not quantity, it's quality. I do agree that taking 3-5 instant impact guys is kind of the sweet spot but if you reach out to those guys and they say no thanks I don't know what else you're supposed to do.
