They will be a step up in competition from UAB and Davidson.
They were 24-10 last year, losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. They won their conference the previous year, so they have certainly had recent success.
They were picked second in the Mountain West this preseason, with San Diego State getting slightly more votes.
Their fans support them well, as they averaged 9,000 fans at their home games last year.
They return three starters from last year's NCAA Tournament team. Their best player is probably guard Chibuzo Agbo, a senior who can score and rebound. Tyson Degenhart is an experienced junior forward who is a good outside shooter.
They brought in a few transfers as well, with the best being O'Mar Stanley, a forward who was previously at St. John's. He gives them about 20 minutes per game.
I believe we will win, but it's certainly a tough matchup, especially this early in the season when we are still getting fully healthy and getting the new guys acclimated.

Good points, Judge. Degenhart was getting good comments from Terrence Oglesby and his Field of 68 crew podcast about their CBB season preview show. He is a big bruiser that can score, rebound and hit 3s. Very quick guards. The Mountain West Conference is one of the better mid major leagues and they get multi teams in the Big Dance a lot of the time. This team was very competitive vs San Diego State last season that went to the National Championship game. This team is a lot better than Morehead State. A big key is to get Jack Clark to get going after coming back from an injury.

Looking like south carolina won't be dragging down our sos this year. And could turn out to be a pretty good win too. Just saying, could give us an unexpected opportunity for a Q dub.

Yeah, they are much improved. Hate to say that about the Coots but true. Have a great win on a neutral court vs an improved VA Tech team. That is a better win than any of the Tigers so far. The transfer guard from Vanderbilt who hits a lot of 3s, and McKie the forward from Wofford were huge additions for sure. That might up being a quad 1 win.

Agree, we will probably need to shoot and rebound a little better to get past them. Good early test and then Alabama right behind them will really test our mettle.

I really hope people realize this is a huge game! Littlejohn needs to be packed! Boise state is a talented team that we should beat at home.
They are big at the guard positions so we should expect to see a lot of Dillon hunter and josh beadle. Joe girard needs to make 3's. He was stellar last game.
PJ should be a big time match up problem for them.

One of Judge Keller’s all time flops. Probably second only to UVA/Clemson game was half full fiasco that resulted in JK’s ignore spree.
Also shades of 2019-20 when we started 5-0 in the non-conference slate (we lost an unusual conference game season opener that year to VT) and JK felt the need to pimp those teams as we were about to hit the real part of the non-con schedule. It didn’t go so well.
It’s also around the same time that same time that JK insisted Mike Young, in his first season at VT, would never be on the same par as Brownell. Strangely Mike Young has a conference championship, a higher overall win percentage, a winning record against Brownell, and one more appearance in the NCAA tournament over that time. It’s almost as if you examine what JK actually posts, he is completely ignorant about about college basketball and is purely trolling this board. 🤔

Boise had better depth and wasn’t as good at guard.
Davidson shot better. Defenses were different but neither were particularly good.
Shows just how poorly we played against Davidson.
