Those tough SEC schedules. Tennessee basically has only two

Oct 17, 2022, 8:44 AM

games left on their schedule, even though the calendar says they have six.

Tennessee-Martin: Danish Pastry

Kentucky: This could be the "Press Clippings" game for them. They will have had two full weeks of everybody and his mother, including their own personal cue ball Pawl Finebawm, telling them how great they are. Them losing this game would DIRECTLY impact Clemson in the rankings, as long we continue to take care of our OWN business.

Georgia: The good news is, somebody will lose this game. If they lose it in a blowout, the loser could conceivably fall below us in the rankings, although it would still be dicey with the SEC bias.

Missouri: Please. No chance, unless Hooker suddenly turns into a nun.

South Carolina: BAAAWWWAAAAAHHHAAAAAHAAAA!

Vanderbilt: Probably the only rivalry that is more one sided than ours, the Commode Doors have no shot.

That UGA game looms large and will be tough on the road...

Oct 17, 2022, 9:16 AM

and I agree on the Kentucky game. Nothing flashy about them but they are a very tough out and if they get the run game going, they will eat the clock up. I think they did this last year too and it didnt turn out well for the Wildcats but it could be a real problem for UT. Its worth noting UK has the 2nd best defense in the conference.

If Tennessee beat Georgia then Alabama beats Tennessee, what happens?

It would depend if Georgia can go back to curb stomping people. But if the Kentucky and Miss St. games are close and they lose to Tennessee, I'd bet they would get left out. But Alabama would certainly be in as SEC Champ. Tennessee would be the hard one to predict in that scenario. Depends if they keep it close with Alabama again the 2nd go round.

There's still so much football left to play though that I'm doubting we will be worrying about this scenario.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Alabama still has some games left

Oct 17, 2022, 11:37 AM

They were very flat against Mizzou and A&M.

That could happen again against a west team like Ole Miss.

They could also lose the SEC championship to Georgia or Tennessee.

In that scenario, an undefeated UGa, undefeated Ohio State/Michigan winner, and an undefeated Clemson get it. The 4th slot would likely be the Tennessee-Georgia loser, if they only had one loss.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is a bad scenario for Clemson. The more "highly ranked"

one loss SEC teams there are, the murkier the playoff waters get. If Clemson goes undefeated, I think we are in. If we lose a game, in that scenario, we could easily get left out.

No way that gets past the PC Snowflake censors today, but it is one of the all time great SNL clips. Just like Eddie Murphy in the "Kill de White People, but buy my record first" Reggae Band clip. No way that one sees the light of day now, either.

Oct 17, 2022, 9:50 AM

Is that really any different than our remaining schedule? Other than the fact that we don't play Georgia and have not beaten Alabama. Two top five teams, along with 4 borderline top 25 teams is a good schedule. The ACC is improved this year and we will only play 4 borderline top 25 teams.

decent overall schedule. But, the SEC shills would have you believe that EVERY SINGLE WEEK in the SEC is "storming the castle" against a superior foe. That is just what it sounds like, a historical fairy tale.

Oct 17, 2022, 10:43 AM

Tennessee has the hardest schedule of any top ten team. If you go on a 6-game stretch that includes 5 ranked teams, that's enough to say EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Michigan, Ohio State, Clemson, USC, and Utah all will only play 3 ranked games their entire season, which Tennessee will surpass in the month of October. If you can show me anyone's schedule outside of the SEC who is close to Tennessee, I'll take it back.

As Clemson fans, I think we should all be Vol fans. Who else can give Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina a loss in just one year.

Oct 17, 2022, 1:22 PM [ in reply to Re: Our schedule is not very tough either. Tennessee has a ]

LSU, Florida, even Pitt?

Losses are piling up for the preseason ‘ranked’ sec teams.

If you actually treat LSU & Florida like the unranked teams they are, it’s not as much of a gauntlet as you think.

Not sure what to do with Kentucky either…we’ll see, I guess. Losing to SCAR at home, even without QB1, is not a good look.

But I know…it just means more….or whatever they say.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wake is now 10th...I wouldn't consider that "borderline" top 25!

Oct 27, 2022, 6:58 AM [ in reply to Re: Those tough SEC schedules. Tennessee basically has only two ]

Syracuse and NC State were top 15 when we played them...that isn't "borderline" top 25 either. Sure, NC State probably won't be ranked at the end of the year, but they lost their QB.

rest of the ACC. Other than Georgia, Tennessee is definitely on the downside part of their schedule now. Kentucky is recently improved, but just got beat by SOUTH CAROLINA, for Gawd's sake. And, I give them no slack for having their QB out for that game. How many players have WE had out for games this year? Nobody else gets any sympathy cards from me on that one.

Re: Those tough SEC schedules. Tennessee basically has only two

Oct 17, 2022, 11:02 AM

I think Tennessee’s offense is legit and their QB is really good. At no fault of his own, it gives the pundits another SEC Heisman candidate to slobber all over, so they’re happy. Georgia’s defense is way better than Bama’s so I don’t see Tennessee scoring as many points against them. I favor UGA in that match up. However, should UT win, that will be right up Bama’s alley. It’s hard to beat the same team twice in the same season.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tennessee plays Alabama and Georgia every year.

Oct 17, 2022, 11:42 AM

They also beat Pitt out of the gate.

With Kentucky and Florida every year and LSU this year, their schedule isn't all that easy.

The fact that they're undefeated is astonishing considering how bad they were for so long.

Josh Heupel is a heck of a head coach. Tennessee obviously made a great hire with him and Danny White as their AD.
