Tennessee preparing a fund to pay their athletes

...if and when the players become employees.

They may not be popular here, but their administration is leading the charge to degang the NCAA. They're really leaning forward to be ready just in case.

I think it's smart. Clemson should do the same, IMHO.

Media has told the SEC and the Big if they break away and form their own league the payout to them will double. Whom knows what will happen. I think it would take some time to plan everything to make it work.

How many playoffs has Tennessee been to? You leeching of the SEC.

You haven’t accomplished anything since 2008. Only losers cling to their conference as if it’s their accomplishments. Loser.

Come over with the big boys instead of in an easy basketball conference and you'll be the loser. Difference of day and night where we both play. Hey, we're happy where we are and you are in misery. Being in a third rate conference with easy wins has caught up to you in attendance, viewership and money.

Clemson and Tennessee have beaten the same number of ranked sec teams since 2015. It’s took Tennessee a lot more tries.

Clemson has more wins vs lsu, georgia and bama since 2012 than Tennessee does.

Clemson has a better Sec record in last 20 sec games than Tennessee.

Y’all don’t want us on an even playing field. ACC has been keeping us down, affecting recruiting mainly but don’t pretend we haven’t accomplished more in the past 8 years as y’all have in the past 50

It's obviously impossible for Clemson to beat SEC teams.***

the turd programs out to increase the average game quality. Maybe having 12 league bridges the gap, but double seems like alot.

I think this is where all this is heading - some form of revenue sharing. Lock the players into a contract, which puts some controls on transfers.

I cannot remember the specifics but, I do know that Clemson setup the new collective 110 Society to be easily merged under the IPTAY umbrella when the law is changed. Clemson is doing a great job of obeying the law and doing things correctly.

That fund is for NIL money.

It's not to make the athletes university employees.

Tennessee's new fund it to be ready to make the athletes paid employees of the university as soon as that model is implemented. They already have big NIL collectives, including the one that paid their QB a reported $11 million. He only played in their bowl game so far, but he was responsible for 4 TDs in their blowout of the 10-2 BIG runner up, Iowa. That was without their #1 and 2 running backs (opt outs) and their #1 and 2 receivers (injuries)
against a team with all of their starters.

If he stays healthy, he might be the best UT QB since Peyton Manning. If that happens, the collective donors will be happy with their ROI.

Will be interesting to see how the women's teams and also the men's Olympic sport teams will be treated vs how the football players are treated in terms of compensation. Will Title 9 force the schools to pay every scholarship athlete the same amount or will it be based on the revenue generated like in the real world? Will the schools spin off the football and men's basketball programs to get around title 9?
