This is awesome news, we need a dominant defense once again and this kid could be the catalyst that gets the other guys playing better also. We need a big hog that can move guys around!!

Dabo said this kid is ahead of any defensive personnel he's ever had to come through Clemson since he's been the HC, and that's saying a lot bc we have had some awesome players to come through Clemson since Dabo!!!

It sounds heretical to speak of losing Breesee, Murphy, KJ Henry, and Simpson, and being elite, but I think this could be our best defense ever. We have a lot of returnees, many who are healthier than ever. Our LB's could be the best we have ever had, and our corners/safeties should be far better than last year. Throw in this great freshman class and the ingredients are all there.

I know I’ve been critical of the whining here and I’m not popular with the masses, but I truly don’t care.
I’m the guy that should be read on recruiting topics and nobody does. Your loss, not mine.

Since I was a young geeky nerd and in a new school where I was hated, I turned to recruiting and for years it was about my only friend. I’ve made my own personal state and national lists for decades and in my geekiness, I’ve actually made connections over the years.
I started when the legendary Earl Campbell was nationally recruited and I actually saw him play in high school and was intrigued

Anyone that doesn’t skip my comments and just down votes mindlessly, is actually missing out. I’ve been wrong, even Jimmy Johnson, probably the best there ever was at scouting, is sometimes wrong. It’s usually about something other than talent.

Bryan Bresee y’all say was a bust, but I saw baloney. He had off the field issues mostly injuries and sister’s illness. If y’all have had a sick brother or sister I’ll rest my case. But, if you haven’t it’s a huge distraction even devastating. My own brother died when I was older, but I was having investment issues and lost a bunch of money and topped of with sick brother I was near suicidal

That to say, Woods is in my opinion, another level than Bresee. I’ve been saying to those freaking about recruiting to chill because this class has some players

Woods was underrated in my opinion, so there’s that. Chill and peace

I enjoy your insight into recruiting. What I don't enjoy is your bull$hit. Quit jacking off and patting yourself on the shoulder, and give us the poop. Then, move on. Thanks

Hahahaha, thanks for insight. Seriously.
What happens to me is I like teams or individuals and I don’t care for them being drug in the mud. Examples are Dabo and Bresee. My wife also complains about the way I speak my mind when I don’t like something and I always need to be correct

Thanks Bud.

westerntigerfan ... Appreciate your insights, but have you considered you "criticism of whining" is whining? And that Clemson Tiger fans with decades of insight about intricacies and nuances of Tiger Football know more than you about Clemson Football? And that Texas Football, like Army and Notre Dame, is a dinosaur with past greatness.

All that said, I'm a big Earl Campbell fan (he does not get his due historically), I agree with you on Peter Woods' 1st Team All-American potential, I hope Texas gets back in the game, I'm sorry to hear about you brother, and I wish you the best on TNet (and with what I recall is a Tiger wife and family). Good luck to you.

You’re right about some, of course. Whining about whining is truly also whining. But whining when losing 3 games is maddening to some who are outsiders but admirers and gets almost as annoying for one like me as my whining about whining is annoying for you.
Did anyone follow that? Not sure I did, but let’s just say everyone is tired of whining.

As for Texas being a dinosaur like Army, I completely disagree. We just needed some time off, apparently. Mack truly quit and nobody had the balls to run him off, after the loss to Alabama in the rose bowl after the 2009 season. No lie or no joke. He really did. He led us to a losing season which was the first of his tenure in 2010 with Major Applewhite doing all the coaching work and y’all’s pal Will Muschamp moped like a school boy all year long. A lot of other Texas fans are in denial, but he’s proven his character plenty since leaving to take head job at Florida.
Who the hell had the idea of hiring Charlie Strong? I get PC, I guess, but I don’t get that hire. I met the man and he wouldn’t even make eye contact. Guess he knew secretly that he sucked
Then, there was Herman. I liked him at first because he was good to my nephew at a smaller college when my nephew played. But, that wore down quickly when 2 aught 2 suddenly equaled 7. Round hole square peg? Odd ball much? Recruits, high school coaches and others hate ya much? Clearly from year one he didn’t play to win, but was just afraid to lose.
Time will tell about Sark, but it looks promising. Mack blew a gasket while having lunch with one of our billionaire donors, or Nick Saban would have led Texas to more titles than he’s won at Bama. I say more because, love him or hate him, Saban understands cheating, recruiting and winning.
Did I mention cheating? I don’t approve of cheating, but Tiger hated bogies more than he loved birdies. In other words, just win baby.

I also disagree about ND. Unlike most fans, I actually like and respect the Irish. I’m not necessarily a fan, but they aren’t Aggy of Texas A$M fame to me. I enjoy watching and I can’t say as they are close to a relic since they have playoff appearances. Unlucky for them that they met Clemson and Alabama in said playoff games.

Texas has too much money and ND has too much prestige to completely fade away. They’ll both be back. Army? Yeah, no. They’re done.

Yep y’all know way more about Clemson than I do, but only because Bowden was a dweeb and I tuned ya out. The hiring of Dabo happened while I was there and there was weeping and gnashing of teeth among Clemson ites. I sort of took a liking to him instantly and here we are.

I also thank you for splaining yourself and clearing up a misunderstanding for me. Frankly, I’ve been holding something of a grudge with some of y’all after Arch committed.
One guy here even made up a bunch of lies about our locker room being a mess and it obviously wasn’t since the players do a lot of a program’s recruiting and a wacky locker room does not equal happy recruiting and a top 3 or 4 class, including two Floridaians and a New Jersey hoss. Two best players in Louisiana on their respective of the ball? Nope not happening

Have a good rest of your day and peace out. Too little time to go back and proof this so sorry in advance if errors.

But, my post was already a mile long and I still had things to say. Bottom line is, I love college football passionately and I have since wee lad status. My passion does not suffer fools with some that don’t understand 12 personnel or cover 2.

My apologies for my turdmanship and will try and tone it down. Understand, please, I want to talk football and whining frustrates that need.

My son in laws brother walked on at Clemson and Dabo was his position coach back then. The brother is a high school coach at Maulden and sent Jaedyn Lucas your way, or he attempted to do so.

In person, we’d all be buddies for sure and I somehow managed to meet former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr when he lived in Greenville and he saw that passion and we talked football for hours every time I saw him. He introduced me to your guys like Dabo and staff and some players

Sadly. Coaches wife got cancer and they had to move back to Ann Arbor where she has since passed on. We stay in touch some, but it’s hard for me because he knows so many people and I don’t know when is good to text or call. During super bowl week, once, the media called wanting to talk about the great one, Tom Brady.
Coach is in an assisted living home now just because he’s now unable to take care of himself since wife died.

Peace remember peace. I come in peace.

OL this spring playing w/o 3 true starters.

Apr 3, 2023, 6:51 AM

OL this spring is w/o two starting guards.

The LT is new to starting (at least for the moment) playing with the 1s. Dabo said that the LT is playing at about 80% of where he needs to be (albeit, he was playing at only ~ 20% of his potential last year.

I too am very excited about Peter Woods, but remember he’s not going against neither our 1st team guards nor an experienced LT.

(*). Maybe we should enjoy watching Peter Woods develop and make a meaningful contribution this year and have fun anticipating All America type seasons next year or the year after.

OTHER: I am a believer (after 3 consecutive years of heresy) that our OL will play up to big boy standards this year. Even for LT (if T.Leigh doesn’t earn the starter job), Mitchell Mayes has naturally quick feet and his play really got better in his trial-by-fire by starting at LG when M.Tate went down. So LT will be have big competition in the fall with what will (by then) be with 2 ready-to-play candidates. For that reason, I am confident that our OL will have an outstanding year.

I've never heard anyone say Brian Bresee was a bust. Brian Bresee was a beast who had some very unfortunate circumstances arise but on the field he was as good as advertised. I think he left a tad early because there was still unfinished business for him as a Tiger but maybe he needs a change in atmosphere after a tough 2 years.

As for Peter Wood, I really didn't understand the recruiting services take on him. ESPN did bump him up to his rightful place but it took forever. I've seen guys with nowhere close to the attributes of this monster get tons more praise and hype. There's no way 2 inches from "ideal" height keeps him shuffled down below guys that are not in the same hemisphere. So what was it? Who knows...who cares. He's a Tiger!

There is a reason he is considered the biggest instate recruiting loss of the Nick Saban Era. People in Bama know what they saw on the field and they know they didn't want him going anywhere but Bama. We got a gem.

I’m not even sure what post it was, but they mainly accused him of being lazy. Bust may have been my own opinion of what I was reading

He should have returned for another season, but that’s his own thing and most of us disagree. He was seriously injured which is an ordeal of it’s on. Look, I played a little at a small school and I never got hurt. I also sucked and I don’t like to admit that even now. But, being around guys that were injured I know what they go through and lazy just doesn’t work as an adjective
I won’t even comment further on his sister but that’s a lot for young man to deal with.

I have nothing but respect for the young man and his coaches

We are going to enjoy this young man and Clemson will never be the same because of it!

He’s a young man who makes mistakes like the rest of us but he trusts the Lord above to guide him, lead him and to give him the desires of his heart. He walks, talks and lives by faith he can do all things with the help of the Lord above as long as he works hard to reach those goals.

He will lead many great recruits to Clemson like Christian Wilkins, Cle and Austin Bryant did. He will be a great leader too, I can’t wait to see his career here at Clemson!

Peter Woods chose CLEMSON over Alabama Auburn, it go show you the awesome culture of Love Dabo has built in the Clemson Football family!

Said he chose us because of the ✝️ Family atmosphere of Love. DTU, thankful his Dad taught him to make decisions based on where God was leading him to go!(peer pressure didn’t matter)

I’ve been saying nice last year that Clemson would make the final 4 next season for various reason and tops probably being the readiness and improving QB play. I love Shipley and the OL isn’t all that terrible. I love the TEs even without Davis Allen and the WRs will be night and day better. The freshman will explode unto the national spotlight and I really like the young talent there.
Defensively, DC will be most improved player if only he wore a helmet. I like him and hyper isn’t always better. Instead of a get back coach behind him, Goodwin just calmly get his calls in on time. Love that.
The DL might be improved and the LBs are outstanding

Could be a great time to be a fan again and guys like me won’t whine about whiners. Let’s party!!!!!

If XT can stay healthy a full season, its going to be fun to watch this D-Line grow and come together. I'd love to see XT and Woods lined up beside each other, they should wreck that one side of the line. I can see Woods being able to play inside or outside and being a rotation piece for anyone on the line.
