That was about the ugliest, most frustrating 31-3 blowout

Oct 8, 2022, 11:26 PM

I've ever seen. I mean, it was 31-3. That's a blowout. We outgained them by over 100yds. That's decisive. Somehow it felt more like 13-3. Honestly, we didn't play well. We were flat, and played sloppy much of the game. And still we won 31-3.

Honestly, that's the sign of a pretty good team, I'll take it and I'll chalk this up as a another big win.

You are so right, and it was an ugly first half, but the second half looked lots better. Maybe we learn and put it all together from here on out. Defense looked very good the second half. Offense still needs to work some things out. Go Tigers!

convinced 100% we belong in the top 5 if they do.

Sir, did you watch the 2nd half? Lots of folks here telling

Oct 10, 2022, 5:55 PM

you the same thing I did.

We dominated the 2nd half, on both offense and defense. Not sure what you saw honestly.

Ugly win for sure ...

Oct 9, 2022, 12:09 AM

But just keep winning baby! There does not appear to be a dominant 2022 team thus far ... so who picks it up year end and the playoffs?

31-3 is an "ugly win??" I still remember going 3-8 under Tommy West. Times sure have changed!

The 2018 trip was pretty ugly too lol. I had a feeling that the defense would carry the mail tonight. It’s good to see that we can win in various ways.

That was as BEAUTIFUL a 31-3 blowout as any other!

This win was reminiscent of the GT win. Offense was lethargic in the first half and opened it up in the second. Defense was kinda bend but don’t break in the first half but shut it down in the second. Both games ended in a four score lead which is a blowout.

I’ll take it.

If we plan to be a top 5 team, invited to the dance and make to the finals we will need a top 10 qb, not a bottom top 30 qb...we get no respect cause we have a better than last year qb but one that looks lost much of the time...great kid, great leader, third string qb at best!

Re: That was about the ugliest, most frustrating 31-3 blowout

Oct 9, 2022, 8:18 AM

Really wasn't convincing.

We definitely showed our best and worst. Our worst indicates DJU still has composure issues when stuff starts going awry, and man, our WR's can be a droppy bunch. Beaux Collins, Ngata, and others dropped more than they caught the first half and they killed drives doing it. When he gets frustrated (or flustered) you see DJU even blowing basic RPO reads and he continuously missed blitzes and as a consequence he'd fail to make the hot read and kept eating the ball, and when he's flustered you notice the first thing that goes is his feet...he starts lurching around all over the place and the ball looks like it's being thrown from a dude riding a bucking horse...it's like: my man, what was that?

Too many stupid false-start penalties...and what the eff with punt-block guys who keep taking out their own returner? It's like: yo, whoever you are, this is the one time you're gonna be on the field tonight and you have one job and that's to protect the returner, could you kindly not take him out as he's fair-catching? (That happened twice, with two different guys.)

And I dunno what's up with EJ Williams, but he's having himself...a season. All I'll say. And not in a good way. There was one point early on at Clemson he looked like he was right up there talentwise with former high school teammate Justyn Ross, so I really do not get what I'm seeing.

Still way more clunk in the O than I like. Credit to Wes Goodwin, though, that D looks like it's progressing nicely and really clamped down.

We may get through the ACC - maybe - playing like that on O, but we aren't going to get anywhere in the playoffs unless we clean it up, bigly.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have a lot of persistent, nagging problems for sure.

Oct 9, 2022, 12:22 PM

Things that must get fixed. The problem is, playing like we did last night, we blew out BC 31-3. Play like that against Ohio State or Alabama, and WE get blown out 31-3 or worse. I hope I'm wrong, but that's kinda what I'm expecting. The only thing that gives me hope is that we seem to play up or down to the level of our competition.

6-0 with fingers crossed.
