looking at basketball-reference.com, they have a SRS (simple rating system) that is a simple computer rating to determine how good a team is. This season we had 3 losses against teams that had a negative SRS. Purnell, Barnes, Ellis, and Foster in 30 years combined had 2 such losses. Even Shyatt never had 3 in a season. A full list of all such losses going back thru Foster:

Brownell - 9
22-23 3 (-1.89, -4.49, -5.36)
14-15 2 (-3.90, -5.24)
12-13 1 (-5.56)
11-12 3 (-2.64, -2.79, -4.54)

Purnell - 1 (next worse was 5.56)
05-06 1 (-7.48)

Shyatt - 5
01-02 2 (-0.08, -6.53)
00-01 1 (-0.06)
99-00 2 (-7.64, -10.41)

Barnes - 0 (worst was 6.03)

Ellis - 0 (surprising, did have a bunch in the 1s and 2s)

Foster - 1
78-79 1 (-1.54)

Everytime JK or his scocks assert that all programs have these type losses I have pointed out that it simply isn’t true. I’ve used an RPI cutoff and he’s the worst per season to coach at Clemson back to Foster.
