The Dolphins had to forfeit their 1st round pick at #21

Apr 27, 2023, 10:45 PM

after a league investigation "into whether the team violated league policies pertaining to the integrity of the game". I missed that. What did they do? And maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges, but why was their integrity more of an issue than all the stuff Washington did?

I guess that's more of an issue than sexual harassment, assault, intimidation, and toxic culture by the team owner. Maybe since that's still an ongoing investigation. The Commanders had a first round pick at #16.

I think it was the Brady tampering

Also they may have lost games intentionally.

This is the answer for the most part.

Allegedlies, Ross offered them Coach Brian Flores $100K per loss to provide an incentive to lose games -- though, if you look at the roster that year, the fact that they won 5 games was a heckuva coaching job.

Is this the first time a team has lost draft picks for violating these rules? I don’t remember ever hearing about it before.

No. Got this on my very first Google search. Read on.

Thanks. I was mainly referring to tampering and I see there were a couple of those in the last 10-15 years.

the tampering with Brady and Payton were the main drivers imho (and plenty sufficient to warrant a draft penalty).

The Flores thing, not sure that really contributed much to the penalty and not sure if ever proven.
