20+ years ago Cory Lambert was a Clemson commit and Brad Scott was in town and met him at Tanners for lunch. Scott told Cory, “I wish I could pay for your cheeseburger but NCAA rules prevent me from doing it.” Cory told me this.

Less than 10 years ago my Bible Study Group was having Breakfast. One member of our group is a former Furman football player. He noticed three current players having breakfast after they had gotten up early in order to hand out backpacks to underprivileged kids. My friend wanted to pay for their breakfast but, prior to doing so he called Furman’s Head Coach and asked if it was permissible. The coach said “no” because he was a Furman booster. Oddly enough I could have because I have no connection to Furman.

Current day: Georgia’s QB drives a Lamborghini and Dion’s sone drives a Mercedes and it’s legal.

You can’t make this stuff up.

That might be considered progress to the kid driving the Lamborghini or just earning some money to help his family.
