Texas guard commits to Clemson
Brad Brownell has some offensive firepower for his 2022 class. 3-star 2022 shooting guard Chauncey Gibson from Dallas, TX has committed to Clemson while visiting Tiger Town this weekend. His top four included Clemson, Old Dominion, Texas Tech, and SMU. Gibson is a tall guard at 6-foot-6 who can knoc Read Update » |

Welcome Chauncey! Pumped to see how this recruiting class is shaping up. It’s not necessarily how many stars are next to their names, but how the coaches get them to buy in and develop. And this staff has done an outstanding job of that. It’s a different game than it was 5-10 years ago — even the “superpowers” have gotten that message — and at Clemson the goal has to be to find the hidden gems who will grow into elite players. Hope Chauncey is one of those.

I read where Gibson was underrated and should have received higher ratings on the circuit. That is why you see good underwhelming programs like SMU, Texas Tech and Creighton recruited him. One of the reasons why is that Gibson plays on the same HS and AAU team that 5 star PG Arterio Morris plays on. Morris is a bigtime scorer who committed to Texas so Gibson's overall good glue guy type ability was overshadowed by Morris. I think Gibson will become a good player if he is patient and doesn't get sucked into the portal. He sees the court really well, has a deep shot, and plays good defense. He does need to get stronger to defend in the ACC.

Wow. Maybe you should just quit watching/caring about this team. You've gone off the deep end.

Do you think finishing 7th in conference and not going to

the NCAA tournament is satisfactory? If you do, if you are happy with that, then you should feel good about Clemson basketball, because the powers tha be have decided to continue that for the forseeable future. Clemson has decided that basketball is not that important, and they are not serious about having a top-tier basketball program, and by doing so are ######## all over long suffering fans who have stood by them through thick and thin for 50+ years.

You seem to be a miserable person so why follow clemson basketball? We have been at the bottom of the league most of the last 100 years. Every coach less CBB who has lifted us out of the cellar has either taken the first offer out or landed us on probation. CU has seen a better ROI in football, softball, soccer and golf so why pour money in the basketball program? With the AAU handlers and dirty shoe money there is no guarantee of success no matter how much we spend. Perhaps you would be less miserable following the NBA as that culture seems to fit your personality

Pretty accurate life cycle of the Clemson basketball player brought in as a freshman in the Brownell era.
Like who? And which player has transferred that us had success at a school as good as Clemson?
Why y'all are doing is bashing a new commit. And that's not cool at all.

Mods: can you guys put something in these headlines so when we see it on the front page in the Sports Update section we know if it is FB or basketball? I'd be more interested in an O-line guard than a guard on the court!
