The "Real" Solution to the Conference Money for Clemson/FSU

Distribute the revenue based on Avg TV Viewers and call it a day. Either do it per team directly or Tier out the top 3 or 4 and share evenly. It rewards those bringing value and incents others to improve their product through actual football or at least scheduling. For Clemson and FSU, it closes the gap either entirely or materially to the SEC/BIG. It is also a value proposition to the bottom feeders as if/when the big dogs leave, the total contract likely goes down closer to $5-$10M per team, right now post 2036. Here's the math based on current $40M/team and current ACC:
Per Actual Viewers: Clemson would get $129.0M, FSU $101.1M, NC State $43.9M, UNC $42.3M down to Duke getting $5.8M. The top 6 each would exceed the current $40M.
Top Four/Not Top 4 Tiers: Clemson through UNC get $79.0M each and the others $24.4M
Top Three/Not Top 3 Tiers: Clemson through NCSt get $91.3M and the others $26.0M
Top 2 $100M/Middle 7 $40M/Bottom 5 $16M (this one is to get 9 votes to keep same money at least) Clem/FSU get the $100M and the bottom 5 would be Lville, BC, VT, UVA, Duke getting the $16M.
You can play this out multiple different ways but is essentially a table based on value provided (meritocracy). I would even be ok if you paid this out based on conference finish (like the English Football League) as opposed to viewership, though that isn't truly tied to the value which is viewership. It eliminates the "Will they invite us" issue and actually helps Clemson make a playoff spot in the 12 team version (given we get back to winning the conference).

That is a lot of information. The bottom teams wouldn't go for it. I like your thinking.

Excellent. It says what I posted earlier but w/o the monetary figures. My guess was that the money would shake out as you outlined. Equal shares is no way to ever incentivize teams to get better and it punishes the teams that are the cash cows.

That would get 2 votes in a conference meeting. Wow.

That's like 14 wolves and two lambs sitting around and voting on what to eat for supper.

Hence the last option where the top 2 get 100m and the next 7 get 40m. That’s 9 votes that maintain or outperform their current situation and there’s the opportunity to make more vs today. The acc championship is now the best 2 teams in the conference, so make it based on performance and hand out the two big checks there. If Clemson can get to 80m/yr, that’s probably close enough to not get left in the history books.

very interesting numbers i like it, of course the lowers wouldn't go for it, but the old model where you get the same check whether you win 3 championships or just exist as a hunk of junk need to be over immediately.
In life the top real estate agent doesn't receive the same check as the guy who hasn't had a sale in 3 months.
