On defense you could tell pork chop had not watched much film. Or Wake invented a blocking technique for this game. The former is more likely.

Their OL blocking and their long fake handoffs ate up our defense. Like we had not prepared for that. We adjusted but it was not pretty.

Offense Cade was off. Quick easy sideline passes dropped. I saw one WR run a good route and got yards after the catch. We don't run good routes anymore for some reason. Remember the routes where the WR breaks to the QB, catches the pass running back to the QB and the defender adjusts only to have the WR curl around after the catch and create separation? Yeah I saw that once all game.

Just not as well coached as in the past.

Defense is fine. Offense has warning lights flashing all over the place.

Just look around at who is winning and who we've lost to.

Loserville just mopped the field with ND and took 25 portal players. FSU beat us with a portal team. USC beat us with a portal QB. Duke took a bunch of portal guys too.

I see no dogs on this team. No guy on O or D who is willing to take anything less than 100% effort. Last year I would have said Shipley could be that guy but he seems to be yelling at the coaches more than anything. And this year he can't see a hole to save his life. It's like we go out, run the plays, and go back to the sideline. Like robots. No enthusiasm, no emotion, nothing.

they don't fit his life view to persevere through whatever circumstances you are handed. You've heard his quips about that a thousand times. So he has a built-in aversion to having them on his team.

This is purely my speculation built on nothing but observation.

I think when he recruits a player, he’s sees it as making a solemn vow to them, their family, and anyone else involved in the recruiting process. I think he sees it like a marriage type commitment, snd if he gets a portal player who comes in and starts over a recruited player, even if majorly deserved, I think he sees it as stepping out on his “married” recruits and going to the Asian massage place to get a $60 handy.
