The Subway in downtown Clemson is closed for real?

Hasn’t been open in forever. Wasn’t it at one point one of the top subway locations in the US? What the hell happened? Now it’s just more wasted space downtown

Downtown Clemson has become a pricey place for a business.
I have no idea of why this location might have gone under (if they did) then costs might have been a big part of the reason.

It shows temporarily closed online, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it closed permanently. That’s a prime spot so I’m guessing it’s not cheap.

Crazy Clemson Subway story.

Back around 90, Subway used to deliver on those little red scooters. We had party at my apt and someone said they knew a Subway delivery guy, we could get discounts. So we ordered a bunch of stuff, when delivery got there driver decided he didnt want to work so he drove the scooter into my apt, gave us bunch food free, ended up getting drunk and leaving with scooter inside my apt. I didn't know the guy or his name, so scooter sat for like 5days in my kitchen.
Finally I was like, I cant get busted for stealing a scooter. So one night around 3am, I took off down the road and the dang thing ran out of gas about half mile from apt. I parked it in the ditch beside road and jogged home. I was freaked out! Never ate at Subway Clemson again I don't think, surely never ordered, ha!
I felt bad but how do you explain a scooter in your kitchen? I have no idea what the driver told Subway but thankfully I never heard anything. We certainly do stupid things sometimes as teens.

Jersey Mike's is fantastic...quality, consistency. Really good food. But it's like $15 for a meal.
I went to 5 Guys last week...literally $19 and change for a meal.
Insane prices! I could have bought like 2 dozen eggs.

Round my neck of the woods, Jersey Mikes is good but a distant second to Palmetto Subs, formerly Sub Station II. Same menu, same subs. Delicious.

The first time I ever ate Subway was at the one in Clemson. Came from a hick town and we had we didn't have one. I remember it being so good. Now subway barely qualifies as food.

Subway is not that bad. Low calorie and good price. Yes some other places are better but you also eat double the calories.

10-4 on the Substation II. There is one in N. CHS on Dorchester Rd not too far from Airport. Its old and in an older part of town but I still stop by there a couple times a year and it's still good! Have to get #19. Otherwise I am a Jersey Mike's guy but I am tired of spending so much for what used to be a reasonable priced lunch.

I believe that was the first Subway in SC. I’m told the gentleman that owned it had rights to the state of sc. he sold all county rights and he only owned and operated the one in Clemson. I’m sure it’s rent why it is shutdown. Same thing happened to Mr Knickerbocker if I’m right. Downtown certainly is not the same, but neither is anything else close to town. When I was a senior I managed the Bojangles in front of subway. Anybody remember when Bojangles was there?
