The thing with Cam may have cost us the season

But, moreso, I feel for the kid. He gave his heart and soul all year to this team. And, he wasn't allowed to play the end of the most epic baseball game I've ever witnessed or what turned out to be the last game of the season? Especially considering how essential his play was to us almost winning the game against Tennessee. He's my National Freshman of the Year and how he got left off any of the all American teams, I will never know.

playing a 14 inning game, half of it in pretty extreme heat and sun, and blowing through pretty much all of our pitching staff. We were exhausted and had to turn it around in around 12 hours with little time to recover, physically or psychologically. Bakich put all his eggs into that one basket - beating UT on Sat night - and we came close, but couldn't quite seal the deal. And it came around to bite us on Sunday afternoon. Not faulting him. It was a reasonable gamble to get us direct into the Sun evening game on 24 hours of rest. But not ever gamble pays off.

Losing Cam certainly didn't help, but it wasn't the key factor, IMHO. Just another piece.

Yes, good point. I just can't imagine 5 at bats from Cam wouldn't have led to one more run. Bare minimum

I would have settled for one more at bat to lead off the 14t***

He may well have caught that fly ball in CF that lead to 2 runs for Charlotte also.

I'm thinking that the ejection of Cam had a negative effect on the entire team.

Can you imagine being a player on that emotional roller coaster the umpires made our team go through? We win twice and both time it's taken away after replay. Then your leadoff man gets tossed, and everyone is confused as to why. That had to have a huge negative emotional effect on our team while having a huge positive effect for TN. I do feel for our guys... no team deserves what the umpires put them through late in that game.
Go Tigers!!!

the ejection was ridiculous, especially considering what is openly allowed as far as taunting in today’s baseball.

On a side note, can’t imagine Cam doing that whole staring down, stepping toward the pitcher thing after every pitch during the 80’s and 90’s. The Nolan Ryan’s of the world would have used the numbers on his back as four-seam fastball target practice

He does need to grow up a little. It'll come with age.

swinging at sliders 3ft off the plate and taking pitches you

should swing at did not help either.

I'd kind of been wondering what that

little hitch and giddy-up thing was all about. In fairness, I much prefer to listen to baseball on the radio, so these last few weeks are the first time I've watched them play on TV. I wouldn't think opposing pitchers would take to kindly to it.
