Would/should we accept a cbi or cit invite?
Mar 9, 2015, 8:02 PM

I know we turned one down a couple of years ago, but would it be worth our while to accept an invite this year?
A lot is made about extra practice time, but Ian not sure that holds water. IMO, it would not be the end of the world to accept a bit, with the assumption that hall and Harrison play minimal minutes. What are your thoughts?

If CBI doesn't work out for us, my church league championship tourney might be a possibility, it might mean we have a play-in game but who knows we might beat the Baptist or the Jehovah's Witness team....one can dream.

we played better in the middle of the season it seemed like to me. We seem worse now than we did then and have had more practice. I still don't know what to think about Brownell but I am thinking he may not can be the guy.
Who knows how we got Rick Barnes and how we get someone like him again.

Why remind ourselves that we had a very disappointing season by extending it in a third-rate tournament? I honestly think our players will be ready to move on anyway once we get bounced from the ACC tournament.

we should inform the football team to never accept anything other than a playoff game or other new years six game. Don't want to extend the season with a third-rate bowl game. I think the players would just prefer to move on.

to a bowl, then I agree with you. Plus, I don't know if there are any bowls as bad as the CBI, and there are some bad bowls. We would be celebrating the fact that we were beat out by at least 96 other teams for post season play. At some point you have to draw the line and have a little bit of pride.

Yes - Look at Oregon

In Dana Altman's first year (same as Brownell's first year) they decided they weren't too good for the CBI. They won it. Next year they went to the NIT quarterfinals. Since then, they have gone to the NCAA 2 straight years and are about to make it 3. If you want to build a winner, then you have to keep playing and getting experience. If the kids have no urge to compete anymore, then we have more problems than having to accept a CBI bid.

First problem, Antagonistic fans like you that think your opinions are above those of us BI-POLAR people. This team is not very talented, offensive problems everywhere, inconsistent, uninspired play points to a lack of leadership. As far as getting into the X&O's, not going to question CBB since he is the best X&O coach in the country. Bottom line, I don't like CBB style and therefore feel we need a change. That's my BI-POLAR opinion.....

You know what the funny thing is Tgrlvr1989? In this case the bullied is now the bully. York was literally A-bombed on this board with his Clemson goin to the Big 12 BS..he went away for a little while and is now back and goes after people like he was. I used to agree on some things with him..now he's in that handful of a$$holes on here who believe that they are right and you are wrong..unless you agree with them of course.

There are pros and cons for sure.

My first reaction to this is no. But the more I think about it, the only reason to deny it is either we cant afford it or we feel like we are to good for it. I believe we can afford it so that reason should be out the window. The next reason, well I feel like that is a major attitude problem this country has in general. The truth is we are at the bottom of the basketball world right now. So nothing is to good for us. So if the team is committed to giving a solid effort, then why not. If the team is not, then save the money, but I think we need to re-evaluate our team.
That said, I don't think the extra practice time is going to help. We have a talent problem right now. We do not have any consistent offensive weapons. At this point, the team has shot thousands of jumpers. If they cant shoot the ball now, it is not going to happen because they get a few more practices. Only way to fix it is for coach to recruit some players that can shoot.
That said, here is to having an offensive hot streak this week. We had a stretch earlier in the year where we won a few games in a row! Hopefully we are due, and we can play ourselves into the NCAA or NIT.
GO TIGERS! LNT
