I listen to a lot of CFB podcasts and i listen to them pretty much all year - even when there isn't much going on in CFB. I've heard the perspectives of quite a few CFB writers and personalities over the years and none of them hate Clemson. Just because everyone thinks Clemson is ranked too high doesn't mean they hate Clemson.
The fact that EVERYONE is saying Clemson is too high is pretty telling because it's pretty rare for all of the talking heads to agree on something.

I pretty much agree with you. It's not so much that they hate Clemson as they just don't think we are as good as our record shows. It is funny, but when Florida State was dominating the ACC when they first came in, they were shown a much higher level of respect than Clemson. I think it is that kind of lack of respect that ticks off Tiger fans ..... me among them.

That is because when FSU first entered the ACC there out of conference schedule was a killer. Florida, Miami among others.

I know what you mean though. For one thing, in their defense, we have not looked that great most of the year. We've done just enough to win. Applying the eye test I can understand their point. However, we have won, and when you consider that we are undefeated and have wins against 3 ranked teams (more than anybody else, as far as I know), we deserve the ranking. Most of these talking heads are so deeply invested in the idea of SEC/BIG10 superiority and ACC weakness that it influences every thought and emotion. They may not be on a witch hunt to get us, but their bias is undeniable.

We haven't played that well and we are in a weak conference. They are being fair. We win out and we are in. Doesn't get more fair than that. There is no conspiracy.

You’d be crazy to think the media doesn’t know Dabo loves the hate and uses it to fire up his team. I would argue that most in the media actually love Clemson and it’s fan base. Especially since ratings and clicks are all that matters. We are a fan base with a chip on our shoulder and will tune in or click on anything negative about the team. I would say, just be happy we are talked about….. “the only bad press is no press”

Who is they? Every year we are pre-season ranked in the top 10. Every year, excluding last, we are ranked in the top 5 come playoff season. We are consistently given the benefit of the doubt. We are ranked with other programs like Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia on a consistent basis.
Who is they? A few talking heads at ESPN and Fox Sports? We were referenced as a Blue Blood program, given a top 4 ranking and are consistently covered by the Media, good or bad. Who is they that you speak of? Klatt? Herby? Who?
The way I see it, we are well respected.

lower than #4 they might convince me. Personally, I see a team growing but not quite there yet. I see many others in the top ten with the same condition. What I don't see from the others is the number of wins over teams presently ranked in the top 25.
What I see from those dumping on Clemson is a lot of hype and a mountain of rationalization resulting from the mental gymnastics of the talking heads. They watch a few selected highlights and ignore the fact that the #1 team gave up about 50 points at home.
"BUT IT WAS TO ALABAMA, ALABAMA, ALABAMA, ALABAMA AND ALABAMA!!!!!"
Who, BTW, gave up even more than 50 points. Championship team my asz.

First I'll say that all that matters in the end is if we keep winning. I also trust Dabo to continue improving this team throughout the season. I think if we play up to our potential that we can play with and beat anyone.
With that said, you're lying to yourself if you think you wouldn't be calling another team with our same results overrated. I'm not saying it will turn out the same, but I think our schedule and playing a lot of close games is very similar to Notre Dame in 2018. They had ranked wins over Michigan, Stanford, VT, and Syracuse. Maybe those teams were solid, but not wins that were going to impress most outsiders. They also had an 8 point win over Ball State, a 5 point win over Vandy, a 5 point win over Pitt, a 10 point win over Northwestern, and a 7 point win over USC. Their offense was inconsistent and their defense looked good overall but was also inconsistent. I recall a lot of our fans being very happy with the 1st round draw of ND in the CFP due to thinking they were overrated.
Yeah we have 3 wins against ranked teams, but if you're being honest then would you be overly impressed if another CFP contender had beaten Syracuse at home by 6, Wake in OT, and NC State at home by 10 just because those teams are ranked 20th, 21st, and 22nd?
