Things that drive you nuts during a football game ?

12

Jul 27, 2023, 9:09 AM

A couple of mine are:

1. When it's 3rd down and we complete a pass that is short of the first down marker resulting in a punting situation. (especially when it appears that was the QB's primary option).

2. A very quick 3 and out on offense.

Announcers bias on calls or non calls.

DJ not making a decision on options he had a couple times in one play.

I love DJ but it was hard watching him hold the ball so long & then sling a bullet behind the wr or where he gets hit hard.

Holding that all can see not being called.

Re: Things that drive you nuts during a football game ?

One of the worst times was 2014 vs FSU when we were at their one yard line (it was actually 2nd down that time) and snapped the ball over DW4’s head and lost 30+ yards. Ended up missing a field goal. Game ended tied and we lost in OT. It was the plan(e) on that play, not the pilot.
Need to have the ability to line up under center and pound the rock for one yard when needed. Reference any Tom Brady QB sneak.

No kidding, why would you even think of that? I think a fair number of these folks have no lives or friends outside of social media Tnet.
If I have comments or questions during a game, I text a good friend, who happens to be 1st team AA and an all pro retired player. Maybe I’m delusional, but I believe he knows more than people on here.
Even if I were wrong, he’s a pleasant kinda guy who doesn’t panic or wet himself regularly (that I know of). I’m pretty sure he understands the game better than most.

Big Problem for me

2

Jul 27, 2023, 10:34 AM

Nothing about MY Clemson Tigers drives me nuts during a game. Not with the coaching talent that we have. I enjoy every minute of every game (I go to ALL home games). Clemson is the greatest place on earth...especially on game day. BUT I especially do not like the “plank” That I forced to sit on and share with someone else!!! Spending money on the seating makes a lot more sense to me than spending money on Tigerwalk that only a handful will ever see,,,,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There have been a number of discussions over the years...

1

Jul 27, 2023, 11:13 AM

about removing the bleachers and replacing them with individual chair-type seats. The two primary issues were 1) the space between the rows is not large enough to accommodate the chair-style seats and 2) doing so would significantly reduce seating capacity.

Truth

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My List Is As Follows:

1

Jul 29, 2023, 7:28 AM

1. No defensive adjustments to simple concepts the offense is running; because the gameplan coming in didn't call for it(Kevin Steele vs. WVU).
2. Quick 3 and Outs!
3. A player in "a close game" not diving for a 1st down or going out of bounds instead of taking a little contact for the 1st down.
4. Getting a lead and changing your play calling to try and run the clock instead of staying aggressive. On all levels of football; I have seen this bite coaches/teams over and over. (I get it if you can effectively run the football; then do it because the concept is sound and makes sense). But, becoming 100%predictible b/c you have a little lead is helping your opponent in many cases.
