Any “Grouping” that places Texas & Clemson in the same group is horse apples.

Texas last 10 years - 8-5, 6-7, 5-7, 7-6, 10-4, 8-5, 7-3, 5-7, 8-5

Clemson last 10 years - 11-2, 10-3,
14-1, 14-1, 12-2, 15-0, 14-2, 10-2, 10-3, 10-2

Just make 2 leagues of 64 teams, premier and championship. Based on prior year you build a balanced schedule of games against 12 opponents for regular season. Top 12 records make the playoffs, bottom 12 play the top 12 of the championship for promotion/relegation. Middle 40 of the premier league play in bowls. Lower 52 of championship don’t matter. Premier league splits the big money with top 12 getting the highest payout, middle 40 getting a different payout, and bottom 12 the lowest. Championship splits all revenues equally.

Lots of money and lots of fun games. You do lose some of the traditional rivalries, and that would be sad, but some of that is already happening.
