What you are seeing happen with DJ is a coach honoring his commitment to a player. The entire world has seen that Cade offers a better set of tools for our current situation (Wide Receivers and O-Line). The whole world knows it and so does Dabo, but yet he is honoring his commitment to DJ for as long as he can.

It is a tool well used to help combat the transfer portal and possibly NIL, for a player to see that his coach is committed to him despite his short-comings. This will keep the quality Football players that are developing into quality Men on Clemson's campus.

Benefits. Saban would have cut DJ and pulled his scholly by now. Dabo just has to navigate this to a winning outcome and not sell-out his culture card.

Saban would do no such thing. He would put DJ in portal and tell him "you are in the portal ".

Dabo has heavy suspicions that Cade is the better QB, like many of us, but there's no proof. Cade has not proven himself on against a 1st string D1 defense on the field yet.

He will get that opportunity when we play Wake. I believe Dabo will put him in early against Wake's starters and turn him loose. He may or may not have multiple drives.

Cade needs to practice the playbook as much as possible before he takes the starting job. If his live action experience using the entire playbook is limited a defense will take advantage. This will be a process, not an event.

I am betting Dabo also told Cade he would start if he was the best QB. No way he would be here if he were not promised equal opportunity to beat DJ out.

I thought you were going to say the comments made by Cade and Blake. (I haven't seen Antonio's clip yet, so I can't comment.)

Both guys talked about the reason they came to Clemson was because of Dabo and the culture he has built. Both guys were the best recruiting video you could ever ask for.
