Fauci didn't say masks didn't work; he said he didn't recommend them in the early stages of COVID. That's because he and the other experts didn't truly realize how many contagious asymptomatic people there were. Once they realized that, THEY CHANGED THEIR MINDS.
That's not lying. He didn't have the best information at the time. No one did.

I said it in 2009. I've given my doctor's story numerous times with swine flu in 2009. Forever, until covid, doctors, health professionals, public health officials ALL SAID masks do little to stop the spread of viruses. Regular people need not wear them. And this was a lie.
It was a lie, decided upon MANY years (decades) ago. The reason this was the standard medical advice given was in the event of a true pandemic, it was essential to make sure doctors, nurses, and medical staff have proper PPE so they can treat patients. If everyone runs out and buys masks, then there would be none for the medical staff to use who are essential to save lives. This was explained to me by my own doctor, and I trust him. In 2009 during the peak week of swine flu in SC I went to him with swine flu symptoms. He came in in a mask. I had just watched Fauci on TV saying masks do nothing to protect people from infection, and little to prevent spread. Now why would doctors and nurses NEED THEM then? I asked my doctor why he was wearing a mask, he never had before. I said if anything he should make me wear one and him not wear one. He came clean.
What happened with covid is they quickly realized their prior "sound" medical advice was bad. A hospital only has so many beds, doctors, and nurses, and if they all had all the PPE they wanted, it makes NO DIFFERENCE if there are more people to treat than they can treat. This is why they changed their story and recommended them. Masks are not profitable to make in the US, along with so much else. So we depend on China for them. Luckily China did not lie about masks, and produced enough to meet US demand as well, and the US also started producing them. It was clear the mask lie was a mistake.
After everyone started using them worldwide, something interesting happened. Coupled with lockdowns and other measures, influenza nearly disappeared. In fact, one of the 4 traditional MAJOR strains of influenza, has become EXTINCT since 2020. It literally has not been found since, and it was commonly used in the vaccines. There is a debate this year to exclude it from the next round of flu vaccines since it no longer exists. This also shows how MUCH MORE contagious covid is than the influenza virus. Then you have a situation where masks help, but don't stop (covid).
All of the above is why you tell people the truth. My doctor did it. And Fauci later admitted the lie and it was propagated for decades for the exact reason given to me by my doctor.

No, folks, he changed his stance. He even stated in private emails later obtained by FOIA that he still didn't recommend masks in the early stages. He did admit they didn't want the public to rush out to get the masks that the medical professionals needed, but that this statement was driven by their belief masks wouldn't be effective to the public at the time and didn't want to suggest it as a precaution for that reason.

So that's an opinion piece (from a vet as one of the authors, no less) saying that they think this system gives incentive to inflate deaths, but there's no evidence that it's actually happening. Then they use anonymous sources and say no one would go on the record, which according to this board, means the statement has to be dismissed.
Anyone got some concrete proof that hospitals inflated death numbers intentionally to get money?

Well, quite famously he went on Laura Ingraham’s show in April 2020 and claimed with 0 evidence or support or data that COVID death tolls were being artificially inflated, and is probably more responsible than any other person for the conspiracy that hospitals were deliberately and fraudulently mis-diagnosing people with COVID in order to get higher reimbursements.
This guy’s BS claims and conspiracies ended up in “Plandemic,” on Inforwars, etc, and have seeped into god knows how many impressionable minds, so let’s not pretend like he’s just another blameless victim of the deep state.

Because they knew how people in hospitals were dying. This akin to the "oh, it's the underlying medical issues that killed them, not COVID" logic. It's simply wrong.
