I was in Cooterville at the game. The Catch was awesome and completely crushed the coots.

Still the only one I ever attended in Cootville....

We were ahead 24-0 at the half, and many coots were leaving the stadium! They made their big comeback and the coots were going crazy. But Butler's catch put a dagger in their hearts, and it was like beating them twice in one day!

My freshman year and I was there for my first visit to the roach also. Got to admit I was bitting not just my nails but also my fingertips by the time it ended.
Then went to the gator bowl and watched us get shellacked by PItt. But still a good season overall considering the previous decade.

24-6 down to even take a lead! But, suddenly, when that happened, the good guys woke up. Fuller to Butler will always be immortalized in Clemson Lore as THE CATCH #1.

Great game and I was stunned as Carolina came back to take the lead before the Catch. For sheer joy, that game to me is third behind the Peach Bowl win against LSU and of course the first Bama win in Tampa.
It's funny. Though I was at the game in Columbia, I was unaware of the temporary expansion of Williams-Brice. It seems now that at least 250K were in attendance now and predominately in orange.

I was watching the game at a friend's house (we were 17 years old). His dad was a coot and was at the game.
After The Catch, we ran out in the front yard and unloaded our shotguns (didn't have fireworks).
I wonder what the dad's coot neighbors were thinking about the celebration in coot dads yard.

I remember the #### players on the sidelines lifting up their jerseys and showing the No Cigars Tonight t-shirts they were wearing underneath. They were about 2 minutes premature in their celebration

Thanks for posting this, Spud. It's the first time I've seen it other than the highlights. It doesn't get much better than that!!

Sr year, we were sitting in a section with mostly uscjr fans. At the end we were whooping it up, and I almost Inadvertently started a fight. It was my 1st and only trip to the roach, I had no idea how hateful opposing fans could be. Up until then, I though the rock throwing neanderthals at MD were the worst.

The Roach with the artificial turf back then was a truly

miserable place to see a game, especially if you had seats down low in the stadium on a sunny day. The reflection made the whole field look white, and you couldn't distinguish yard lines, side lines, or anything else. You had to depend totally on the zebras to tell you whether any yardage had been made.

The glare from the sun reflecting off of that surface was miserable.

If we hadn't come back, they might be calling that "the catch" down in Columbia!
