I am against any form of unnecessary cruelty, it speaks volumes of our society. I also do not believe in the death penalty.

I think the argument comes down to one of faith, so there will never be any agreement here. But it is a fact that our country was created to allow people the right to religious freedom and the second amendment states no laws shall be made in respect of any one religion.

When did being against the murder of children...

Oct 24, 2012, 11:40 PM

become synonymous with support for the establishment of religion?

What does one have to do with the other?

One thing that I've noticed about liberals is that they have an overwhelming need to link ideas, including ethical and moral ideas, with specific groups. Not only is this regressively tribal in its application, it also relegates said ideas (any ideas, really) to relativity in interpretation. Thus, if the group with which the liberal mind associates an idea is abhorrent to them, the idea is abhorrent to them by extension.

I believe this is the root of the left's unfortunate preoccupation with ad hominem logical fallacy. The idea itself is an afterthought to a liberal in debate. What's relevant is "who has the idea," or "to what group does the conveyor of the idea belong," or "what group does this idea offend." Liberals need to segregate the populace into special interests in order to message.

You say you're against the death penalty. Well, so am I. What's disturbing is that, at the same time, you see no problem with murdering children. Why? To paraphrase you, it's because being pro-life is for the religious kooks. Again, messaging by segregation.

Look, I haven't been to church in 15 years. No group tells me what belief is correct. I know that I am correct without license from anyone. And, deep down, you know that I am correct.

So, you're saying that the killing of babies is a religious

thing? Pretty sure human sacrifice is not allowed by US law.

But I acknowledge your ability to match wits with the stupidest arguments that come from the conservative trolls here.

...I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent.

I think you're confusing the 1st ammendment with the 2nd***

Interesting thought...Would Jesus find a distinction

Oct 25, 2012, 10:32 AM

between hatred in your heart for a person vs actual murder?

Matt 5:21-22

I am staunchly pro-life...but ads like this and the pure hatred spewed by the "religious right" towards the Obama Administration flies in the face with what Jesus taught.

And in doing so, we may win an election, but will turn people off to the Gospel forever.
