conflicted over. Of course nobody wants to be accused of stuff, but at the same time these people could all move on with their life A LOT sooner if they would be agreeable.

I'd get harassed every time something wasn't bagged. I just started carrying the receipt in the same hand as the 12 pack and got left alone.

I often voice my opinion about how dumb it is and then the beta receipt checker agrees with me. Then I’m like “good, I’m glad you agree with me that the way you do things is dumb”
Then I let them know how important I am by name dropping the manager of the store and say something like “I’m going to call them up to discuss this matter.”
I walk right by, knowing that my impressive presence brightened that receipt checkers day.

it (to deter theft, which keeps costs down for everybody), and I don't mind being mildly (very mildly) inconvenienced to assist in that. Plus, I have nothing to hide or prove, and I have no desire to be one of those pr!ck auditors.

I have begun hearing more about shoplifting since pandemic started, heard a story yesterday I think on NPR about Walgreens. And see more stuff in those clear plastic big lock boxes at Wally World and Food Lion (pricey women's makeup stuff and OTC medicines)
