I've heard many, many people express lately. I drove by Lot 5 the other day and couldn't help but think how pissed those people were going to be. They might want to start thinking about jumping to the SEC for that TV money if they want to keep alienating the longtime donors.
You know how the hill looks half empty for every game now, even the big ones? I'm sure it'll be the fire chiefs fault when the rest of the stadium routinely looks like that. Cause most of the new Upstate population doesn't really GAF about Clemson football. It's the locals and longtime fans/alum keeping butts in the seats, but even most of the people I went to college with won't bother to make a 2 hour drive up from Columbia more than once or twice a year.
Oh well, the cycle continues I guess.

Atlantic game would make a lot of his gripes go away.
"Heyyy, yeah this is IPTAY. So your parking pass will still be at Newspring, and we've bumped you and your mom to North Stands upper deck....BUT, we're going to honor you during a TV timeout for one of the non conference games. How does that sound?"

That as we boomed in football success, the people who run Clemson were going to say, "Nah, we don't wanna make more money in spite of demand. Let's make sure we keep everything at the same price for the current donors."

appreciated/respected for their long time support. Maybe make a call to someone before you boot them out of the parking space they've had for 30 years, in a lot of cases they've got the extra money to give and would gladly do so.
There's a public relations aspect to it that IPTAY and Clemson are failing wildly at. I never heard a peep from them until I quit donating, now all of the sudden I'm worthy of an email or call every few months.
I think NIL is killing a lot of the desire to give, too.

And they're correct to feel this way. But no one should be surprised with all the people who have been running Clemson since at least the late 90s, in both athletics and academics. Too many folks there prefer green over orange.

What is the inflation on football tickets and parking?

I think our season tickets were about $345 in 2015. Now they are $500?
I have no idea. But I do know tuition doubled in the 6 yrs I was at Clemson. That's pretty bad.

Seems like you've basically had to bump up a donation level every year to maintain numbered parking though, that's what the older folks are raging about. They're used to donating their $10k every year or whatever, then they find out they've been moved out into the boonies for parking.

I appreciate the need to raise revenues, especially given our football goals and especially given our TV revenue compared to our rivals and competitors.
I am concerned that Clemson has gone, and is going, about it in a way that turns off long time fans and makes donors without generational wealth feel unappreciated. Historically, Clemson's fan strength has come mostly from the average fan and the strong connection that fan felt to the university and the football team. It remains to be seen if the current donor class will stick around when the shine wears off.
It is one thing to raise prices. It is another to do that and pour much of the money on vanity projects like turning Lot 5 into "Tiger Walk." When average fans can't get parking passes in the Brooks Center, something seems wrong.
More generally, as an average fan, other than the new video board, I cannot think of one aspect of the Game Day experience that is significantly better than a decade ago: parking is worse and more expensive, entry to the stadium takes longer, the Hill is less full, concessions are more expensive and lines are still long, etc.
I love Clemson and I hope that the current administration isn't killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

I've been an IPTAY donor and season ticket holder for quite some time now. Everything associated with IPTAY and Clemson football is getting a little pricey on a retired budget. As was mentioned - for the majority of regular donors I'm not seeing much benefit from the increased prices. A year or so ago I made a suggestion to IPTAY that they should provide free tiger seatbacks as part of the football season ticket package to show some level of appreciation for long term donors but apparently even that small pittance is considered "crazy talk" by the IPTAY office.
My youngest nephew decided to go to Clemson so for now I'm planning to maintain my IPTAY membership through his Freshman and Sophomore years. After that - all bets are off. As I get older I find that my priorities change and spending more than $4k a year for seven Saturdays in the Fall is making less and less sense with each passing year. Especially when 2 of those Fall Saturdays are spent playing cupcakes in thousand degree heat...
