Thoughts on Dexter Lawrence?

Saw that he has an OV to NC State just before his Dec. 14th announcement date. How worried should we be? Anyone have an update on his status/biggest threats to nab him besides Clemson?

I don't think he's a Clemson lock by any stretch. I think right now, N.C. State remains not only a contender, but a very serious one at that. Dexter's a really hard kid to read, but we do know proximity plays a part in his decision, and for that reason I don't see Ohio St. as a serious threat. I do believe that if we can really dazzle him during his in-home (which was scheduled for this week), he could be ours to lose. Really like this kid and hoping we can land him!

Thanks. Would like to get one last word in after his NCSU visit. I feel like they're the biggest threat.

I got this one....

First off, yes Clemson probably leads for him. Others in the mix are NC State, Bama, and Florida. Whoever lands him is going to be the front runner for his brother, Devon Lawrence, services too. He is the real deal just like Dexter is. It is not a 'package deal' cause he is a playmaker. This year he averaged over 8 yards a carry and had 23 rushing TDs (1335 yards on 160 carries).
He may not take his visit to NC State this weekend. One site claimed he might decide to return to Clemson for one more visit. It's a wait and see type deal. Big Dexter was here for the FSU game this fall and you know how that atmosphere was. I'd imagine he loved it.
Some good stuff from Dexter- "I have a good relationship with coach (Dabo) Swinney. I like his attitude and that he always has a lot of energy.”
What he's looking for in a school- "Just if the schools are family-oriented, if they do things together," Lawrence said. "All the coaches, if they're religious. Playing as a true freshman, I just want to go somewhere I can play as a freshman."
If I can ever help, just tag me and ask away. I don't mind at all. The one thing I can't stand is misinformed people giving bad information. Have a great day and Go Tigers!

What about John Simpson and Bryan Edwards?

Korncoot reported Dabo Swinney met with Edwards today and that he will decide sometime next week. Edwards is taking an official visit to the chickens this weekend.

Edwards has spoken to the current Gamecock staff and is scheduled to visit this weekend. I believe I read that Swinney has met with or talked with him (can't find that page now, unfortunately). However, it is down to us or them. I know some of our commits were really, really warming up to him and it appeared he fit in with that family. Unless the Gamecocks can sell him on something then I expect he'll be a Tiger. The one thing we all know they are selling is immediate playing time.
I do not foresee South Carolina being a huge factor in John Simpsons recruitment anymore. Perhaps I'm wrong but I believe that ship has already sailed off. To me, it looks like UGA, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, and Clemson are in the running. One could feel comfortable calling Clemson the leader. He still wants to look around though and there's nothing wrong with that. He's a young man who is about to make a huge decision so why not be sure. Ultimately, I think he's a Clemson Tiger.

With Rahshaun enrolling early one would figure that he'd give the school he's going to a heads up silent verbal. If he's gonna be there in January then conventional wisdom would be that the said school probably would receive notice and finalize the paper work. But I've been wrong before.
Now as far as the possibility of Dexter being here this weekend, I will caution you that only one site suggested such a notion. I believe they were implying that he's seen NC State plenty of times before and perhaps could want to take one more look at Clemson or another school. Kind of makes sense. A lot of times I'll see folks refer to a quote that is two years old in regards to Dexter wanting to stay close to home. Well, he's revised that statement once before this year. ”That’s not really going to matter,” he said. “I’ve just have to find out which school is the best fit for me on and off the field.”
Hopefully we'll hear him announce to Clemson on Monday and we'll all rejoice! Guys, I've been following this stuff for years and I don't think some folks appreciate how amazing we are doing in recruiting. Its absolutely stellar and I can't wait to see what next year brings as well. Feel free to hit me up anytime, just tag me in the 'mentions' box below and I'll get a tmail which will bring it to my attention.
Have a great day and Go Tigers!

Any additional thoughts in the home stretch here wrt Dexter? Kinda worrisome that he spends the weekend prior to announcing on NCSU's campus.
