We told him we already had our recruits weeks ago, we let Tennessee have this one but the reason is really private knowledge.

Wasn’t Tiger material, period!

I think that kind of goes without saying, fact he picked Tennessee is all you need to know, might as well have picked UGA...quality and high character kids go to Clemson, think the decision then speaks for itself.

Nothing against this young man, I hope it works out for the best even though I am very confident he made the wrong decision. However, I am sick and tired Tennessee and everything that they represent. For the last 7 months it has been one loss after another to them. I hope they run the table and we meet in the CFP. I want to curb stomp them and their fanbase into the ground.

I lived there for 12 years, prior to returning to Upstate SC, and am with you on this. My gut says their current "success" is short lived and they'll be more irrelevent very soon.

Irrelevant is what Clemson was prior to Dabo. Prior to Dabo you had 1 national title. Clemson success came at about the time UT down fall started. If UT doesn’t make stupid hires at the highest level and “let it trickle down to football, I believe Dabo wouldn’t have had the success he had. In fact he wouldn’t have gotten Trevor L, Tee Higgins, or Amari Rodgers. Not UT is back to being good again you won’t get the same recruits out of Tennessee has you have been. If Heupel can out recruit Osteen now with less titles, what you think is gonna happen when he does win a title?

Actually had Clemson not fired Danny Ford in 80s. Clemson would have had 3 or 4 more during his time at Clemson cause like Dabo now he was bringing great players in little oh Clemson. But also to be honest if Dabo played right QBs and right assistant Coaches he would have had 2 or 3 more now too. KB and DJ cost 2.

Dabo is great recruiting QBs although history shows doesn't know how to keep them. Since the day of coming to big schools knowing probably be JR or SR before starting QB. Now even the Saban's if don't get to start freshman year or early sophomore they want the portal.

Tennessee may end up in the CFP, but I don’t see Clemson getting past FSU this year. Also, you can say what you want about UT but don’t kid your self and act like Clemson is a better program historically. With the right coach in Knoxville, UT sells itself with facilities alone. Neyland stadium is one of the best venues in all of college football. Clemson has been great under Dabo, but nothing really special before Dabo.

Butch Jones is gone and was one of the worse coaches in Tennessee history. Even with the stirng of bad hires between Kiffin, Butch,Dooley, and Pruitt, UT is still has the #2 SEC winning % in conference, #2 in Conference wins and #2 in national championships. Just imagine if we would have hired a good coach after Fulmer and don’t go through a 15-20 year drought?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wrong!

1

Jul 7, 2023, 4:55 PM

Tennessee claims 6 but the NCAA only recognizes 2 (1998 & 1951). Typical SEC math. Tennessee has only recently padded their national championships. After 1998 they collectively recognized 2 (1951 & 1998). What changed?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It just means more.

1

Jul 7, 2023, 5:11 PM

When we join the SEC, we will probably need to add 1948, 1950, and some others like maybe 1902 or before just to normalize things.

May want to come check out the Valley and our facilities then come back and let us know how they compare. You seem too young to say we have just arrived in just the years Dabo has been here. Wasn’t too shabby during the Ford years. After he left until Dabo came it was pretty abysmal. Same could be said about Fulmer when he left Tennessee. Went downhill and not sure if they are truly coming back to a SEC East contender or lucked out in the portal for a year. My money says Clemson is more relevant and will stay that way as long as they are still recruiting top 10.

UT sold almost as many season tickets this year as you have total seats. While the facilities at Clemson are good, they are not SEC standard. UT has been upgrading its facilities across all sports for the last 10 years or so. Since starting the renovations UT has committed almost half of BILLION DOLLARS to upgrade football and baseball facilities. Right now you have better baseball facilities than UT, but when the $100 million renovations/upgrades are done(2025) you won’t. Just admit that when UT has a good coach, UT is the better program than Clemson. That is being proven on the recruiting trial as we speak in football and baseball.

Vitello has taken your best player, and Heupel is out recruiting Dabo. Even with the success Dabo has had and the 2 titles, he still being beat out for recruits by Heupel which is in his 3rd year at UT.
