He's gonna lead the league in pics 😉

Not bad

I hate we never figured out why he didn't even get a second chance here at Clemson (mostly because he is such a sincerely-gifted player outright & we've given so many chances to other dismissed players, like Kendrick), but Ole Miss is a great opportunity for him & a huge get for the Rebels outright.

Really wish we could have made it work with him but it must have been REALLY bad whatever he did to get kicked out so quickly, & hopefully he can avoid the same thing at Ole Miss. Live & learn, always.

Seems that it was a team decision and not just coaches.

If you’ve lost your team mates it’s time to leave.

What he was allegedly doing was really just not acceptable.

What was this alleged infraction?

He snapped nude locker room pics without consent and distributed them.

How does someone do that, like, literally, & where would he put them?

Exactly.
Dabo (and reports) specifically mentioned the team was uncomfortable with him - that he had violated their trust repeatedly. (That tells you he had multiple chances.) This is a team sport, not just individual superstars. It wasn’t gonna work on the field if it wasn’t working in the locker room.

I hadn't heard the multiple parts thing, can you cite that? For whatever reason there seems to be an absolute barren desert of accredited info on this dismissal regardless of TJ's inescapable talent. Sincerely curious & trying to learn more.

What makes you think he never had a second, or third chance? Dabo is pretty consistent and definitive on whats successful and what isn't. Weve seen him give players multiple opportunities. Since this, and most other team infractions, are not publicized, how do you know? Dabo would not have kicked him without cause or reason. Weve seen him, repeatedly, kick players, and then give them an opportunity to get back on the team. It may be that this was Dabos way of getting the kids attention, but TJ didnt want to comply.....

Slow down please---I never said or implied Dabo kicked him off the team "for no reason," to be clear, nor did I say I have any way to know he wasn't somehow on his 8th chance in spite of his inescapably short time here at Clemson, only that Coach Swinney said as much & I deliberately take people at their word is all.

We've had other guys get countless chances after considerably worse things including mortal danger, for example, but that's WHY I'm asking, rather than speculating TJ was simply a bad apple or "thug" as many have been calling him in Clemson nation in spite of what it sounds like is he took pictures in the locker room (which is bad, absolutely, but certainly fixable & preventable, i.e., for a second chance).

Bottom line, my point is only that I'd rather any kid get a second chance here, to learn from leaders like Coach Swinney & Coach Godwin, even regardless of TJ's remarkable talent, & I suppose I'll always wish we knew more, particularly with the judgment being put on him over the last few weeks here in Clemson nation. I suppose, to your point, I actually wish we knew it WAS something absolutely atrocious & unforgiveable, which is a weird thing to think about.

How is this going to work out? The portal is not currently open. Is he eligible to play this season?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The original report said he had entered the portal which suggests

1

Jul 29, 2023, 1:35 PM

this went down at the end of spring semester/May vs when it leaked out a couple of weeks ago that he had been dismissed. Players can exit the portal at any time, they are just restricted on when they can enter it. I guess people were asleep at the wheel noticing he had entered or I guess there could be exceptions when a school dismisses a player??

Or a couple other items 1) could have graduated 2) could be

1

Jul 29, 2023, 1:40 PM

just going to school at Clemson or Ole Miss in the Fall and then starting back football in the spring 3) could be sitting out of school entirely until spring. A lot of possibilities

Re: Or a couple other items 1) could have graduated 2) could be

1

Jul 29, 2023, 2:36 PM

He's a redshirt freshman, he hasn't graduated.

Since he was dismissed, he is eligible to enter the portal even when outside one of the two "open windows".

Could be a technicality

Jul 29, 2023, 5:00 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Former Clemson defender commits to SEC school ]

The portal has very clear windows, as do scholarships, & this dismissal was after both.

However, note players don't need to use the portal (which is essentially just an NCAA-administered website database) to transfer to another school, & as of a few years ago any player can transfer for the first time with no penalty for both academics & athletics (i.e., he can play immediately).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Could be a technicality

Jul 30, 2023, 7:49 PM

Portal allows the player to auction himself off.

Simply transferring would leave someone not knowing their NIL earnings potential.

If TJ’s use of the portal causes him to ‘miss’ (pun intended) the 2023 season, but he got great NIL money by using the portal instead of simply transferring, then this might very well have influenced his decision.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Still eligible

Jul 31, 2023, 10:43 AM

I hear you!

To be clear, he's still eligible to play at Ole Miss immediately regardless. Can't wait to see him shine, & I suppose I'll always wish he could have done that here outright.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My only real surprise is that it's Ole P!ss and not Jawja.

He picked the right spot. He won’t have to worry about any rules over there. They’ll change, morph, disappear, reappear, be amended, rescinded, pretzel bended and patchwork mended, depending on the exact football needs in any given 15 second period. It’ll be like a Valhalla paradise of non-accountability.

Ole Miss has a rinky dink program.
