TNET: Former Clemson RB announces transfer destination

Former Clemson RB announces transfer destination

Former Clemson running back Chez Mellusi has found his landing spot. Mellusi is heading to the run-heavy Wisconsin Badgers offense. As a Tiger, Mellusi totaled 427 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 71 carries and five catches for 38 yards and a receiving touchdown in 169 career snaps over 21 games Read Update »

Chez will do well . . .

Jun 1, 2021, 9:47 PM

running behind those big corn fed guys . . . Hope he gets an honest chance!!!

Sometimes the boys from Florida have problems with the cold weather, but I think he’ll be just fine.

I was thinking the same thing as soon as I read this. He'll flourish. Won't surprise me if he runs for 1,000 yards this year. Hate he left here but wish him the best. Can't blame the fella for wanting to get 20-25 touches a game.

Wisconsin is built for the power running game. Hate to see him go, but I understand.
They may open it up a little this year with a good passing QB. Hopefully Chez has a great couple of years, we only got to see flashes, but he always looked good.
Our backfield was crowded and loaded with top talent, so he did what was best for Chez.

He could certainly help several of the Florida schools, but he is headed to the North Pole instead?
Good luck and make us all proud of your actions in the Big 10.

I haven’t looked at the Badgers depth chart, but on the surface this appears to be a good situation. Only thing to remember is that Wisconsin typically settles on a RB and runs him until he wears out. Lots of carries but not necessarily spread around. The good news is that if he gets a chance he will have holes to show his open field skills against some slower Big10 defenses.

That's true if Wisconsin has a big star at RB like Jonathan Taylor, but they don't have anyone like that right now. Also, if they have more than one really good back, they will spread it around more, historically.

I like to see a transfer make a great decision if he's going to leave. The TE from LSU that just transferred to Georgia made a bone head decision for himself. Hello, dude, the Bulldogs have a 6-8, 260 TE from Las Vegas you are going to have to split catches with and he caught all of 7 passes last season. Not a good decision.

I believe Arik's decision to go to UGA was more about who would actually take him, than how much he'll play. Plus it appears UGA is, aside from always taking thugs/delinquents, bringing in players from rivals to perhaps get some intel. My two cents anyway.

Good luck to him. Yeah he’ll rack up yards but will there be any championships? ??

In the real world, very few people win championships. Life is not T=Ball or gymnastics where everyone gets a medal.

Championships are worthless to a player that isn't being seen as a major contributor on a championship team if his dream is to play in the NFL. I think that Mellusi has done what's best for him, and his future. I wish only the best for him with his next team!!!

Great choice to be able to run behind the line that Wisconsin always seems to have.

No body can blame Mellusi for transferring, he came in, and he done his best to try and seal a starter/CO starter position, and when he saw that wasn't going to happen, he made a sound decision to transfer to somewhere where he could play, and hopefully get the most of the snaps where ever he lands, and I hope the best is ahead for Mellusi....

Jalen Berger is the Badgers' top back and will get a lot of touches, but they are surprisingly thin in the backfield this year, so Chez will see some playing time. Certainly more than he did with the Tigers. Hope he does well.

Re: TNET: Former Clemson RB announces transfer destination

Jun 2, 2021, 8:45 PM

I wish him luck but this transfer idea makes me lose incremental interest. I used to watch basketball, played basketball. Now I have zero interest. The idea that players just leave whenever they want will end up hurting the game in the long run, I will bet the farm. And I own a farm. I know people say it’s not fair. Guess what, things at my job aren’t fair every day. Fair is where you buy funnel cakes. Good luck to this man, not directed at him, just this idea that people leave as soon as things aren’t perfect in general. And the things I read about schools recruiting from other teams, I don’t see how that’s a good thing.

Really hope he does well. I hope DK has a sore toe or something when we play against him, but other than that I hope he gets his life together and does great at Georgia

Go Tigers! Once A Tiger Always A Tiger

Wisconsin is a great CFB Program

Jun 4, 2021, 6:03 PM

Chez chose a program I respect as much as Clemson's (if you remove championships from the equation). They develop players as well as anyone and he will get a legit opportunity to play.

Unlike Dabo, Paul Chryst doesn't have much of a public persona but he's got a great sense of humor, cares about his players and treats them right.

They also have one of the most underrated fan bases in any sport. Just watch a couple of their home games and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Wish you well Chez!
