This is a good move since he lost our other kicker to UNC.***

I don't get this at all. I thought we had competition for the spot this summer and now we bring in a kicker who has never attempted a field goal. Wow we miss BT.

We did have a competition. The guy that finished second then left Clemson, to go be second at UNC. Can't control that.

I think that the distance he was kicking instantly became false hope that if he had that strong of a leg, hitting 40 plus yard field goals, extra points should be pretty easy for a kicker with that much leg.
I do think that before any kicker is every offered a free ride scholarship, he should have to do it in something like game time blocking attempt situations that has been set up on the practice field. IMO, it doesn't matter if a kid can kick it between the post at 80 yards from a practice holder. If he can't do it under game time heavy pressure, putting a uniform on a cheerleader and sending them out to kick a field goal would amount to about the same....

“Brought in help”… from a retired graduate that never kicked a field goal in his time with the team?
Do better.

What do you suggest instead? It's mid-season and this seems like a creative way to both (a) create a backup plan and (b) create more competition.

Dabo's transfer portal is right there in that locker room.

Even if it's a previous year's locker room.

You can't enroll in grad school in September and join the football team, either. I'm saying...we can't go get someone out of the transfer portal and just slap a jersey on him this time of year.

practice or at least have couple of people running in from the side.
Others need it "real" in practice too. Otherwise they become soft, timid.
Injuries? Seems most are muscles, ligaments, toes. Maybe need to refocus for proper conditioning and stretching.
I don't know.

Easy for spectators to sit back and criticize a young player. The pressure and mental aspect of going in the game and making a kick is difficult for these young players (we have seen it many times at Clemson and other schools). That being said, kicking help is definitely needed until this kid can get the mental aspect under control - will come with maturity.

Dabo's sons are always the holder and you can't complain about them missing the spot.I wouldn't want to be a kicker with the head coaches' son holding.Miss the spot by a half inch either way and you will miss the field goal. The punter should be the holder like every other team.

I will say Drew took the holds in 2022 and Clay took them this year. We had Will from 2017-2021. It appears that Will's departure from the team is the reason we are no longer in the CFP....
