Let's hope so. Unfortunately don't have the same level of faith in Dabo's word as before the last 2 years. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised

Agree! A little disappointed in Cade’s development from last year which could be linked to getting comfortable in a new offense. Noticed him retreating backwards for a couple of big losses like he tends to do sometimes. He needs to learn to step forward in the pocket when he feels that pressure. The other issue is wide receiver. If he has no one that can separate from the defenders or go up and catch a 50/50 ball it could be another difficult season for the QBs, especially against quality opponents. Our wide receiver recruiting has to get back where it was during the NC years.

That’s kind of harsh considering a brand new OC and offense. I should NOT have to try to be nice here, but comments like these make it hard for this old guy. In a relatively few weeks you expect a college kid to go to class and learn and have homework and have limited time with a coach because of NCAA rules and be completely sharp? That’s totally unreasonable in my old eyes

Take for example my team which I was actually able to see yesterday. Arch Manning is brand new and fans actually expected him to be better than a third year spring guy and a second. There’s Ewers who was much, much better than last season and an incredible looking huge Californian that lit it up and people are shocked. He’s got unlimited potential and the size and strength and all the intangibles and people want another Vince Young. He’s not that, better in some ways but no where near as athletic as VY.
Now, I’m concerned about too much talent and QBs leaving and hitting the portal. I don’t want to lose any of the 3, but a QB wants to play and Arch might see the potential on the wall and hit the portal which gives my guys a black eye.

I had myself banned on my own teams board so that I could just read and not comment and the site owners scratched and wondered why I would do that. This is why.

I think you guys are loaded and I also think Arch is way over-hyped and will not live up to expectations. I definitely see him hitting the portal at some point.

Too soon to tell yet, at least that’s my opinion which matters little. All I know is the Maalik Murphy redshirt freshman looked super sharp yesterday hitting everything all over the field. He has had 2 springs and Arch just one which obviously is an advantage for Murphy. But, the size of Murphy is cool, but DJ was also big and never lived up to his hype.
At RB, we lost our two main guys and Bijan is expected to go 1st round in this next draft and the next guy is also expected to at least make a roster. But, the drop off is not as huge as I had expected.
WR and OL are improved and more experienced and we return 10 of 11 on offense. The defense lost a few more, but returns a lot of youth and our DC looks very good right now after struggling his first season with a complicated defense. That’s kind of how I feel about your DC, too. Venables was good, but I was frustrated with him when play calls were late. Y’all have a lot of talent on defense and almost as much on offense, probably. Cade is from the same area of Texas I’m from, Austin, and I really pull for my home boys.

May we both see a lot of improvements this year. I believe it’s a playoff spot for y’all, not sure about us because I’m not a true homer.

The issue for the offense units in the spring game was that neither squad had chemistry a,one their respective OL units.

This is to be expected, given that (1) we played essentially only 6 OL last year during extended meaningful minutes and (2) the need to sit both starting OGs from the 2022 team further reduced the experienced talent available to both squad’s OL units.

DL facing them just happens to be the most talented and deepest part of the team (especially the DT room). No wonder that there were a bunch of sacks, and that CK2 looked shaky so often.

(*). From the player development point of view, this spring has been very good. Back to CK2, the feedback loop in which he gets to see his own need for better pocket presence; what to do when the pocket collapses (throw it away or hot routes) -&- what not to do (back peddle for ~ 20 yards or think that he’s speedy enough to outrun big time LBs and Safeties to the boundary … which he can’t do).

CK2 needs more coaching, and he’s going to get it.

CK2 is having to learn how to make things work when the OL and WR units aren’t going to make it easy for him. It’s much better for CK2 to learn how to manage the game when the offense’s personnel is inferior to the defense’s personnel. Then, when the full OL is all together and the WRs (fingers crossed) are healthy and playing respectably, CK2 will be positioned to exploit our excellent overall O personnel to win a bunch of FB games.

I asked this question elsewhere and I didn’t see if I had a response, but does anyone know the condition of Will Taylor? Apparently, he wasn’t back to himself last season. I’m a fan of his quickness and he’s supposedly best friends with Cade.
I know he’s supposed to be playing baseball, but I Can’t get into college baseball at all because of the pros stealing players, ya know kind of like basketball has become

Will is hitting .317 (3rd on team) this season. Also 6-6 on stolen bases.

Certainly don't want to open up an argument here, but with the WR core missing all but 2 of it's most experienced players, the QB looks average at best.

Kind of explains why the offense has looked so terrible over the last 2 years. Injuries have decimated this offense! And if it doesn't get healthy and stay healthy. Your new OC and new starting QB is not going to make any difference! I have said it for 2 years a healthy team and Clemson has always been a playoff team! Time will tell, but this season the CFP is not reachable if we don't keep our starters healthy!
Go Tigers!

On top of WR injuries, we also don't have those "go to guys" like we used to. The days of Higgins, young Ross, 3rd and Renfrow, Mike Williams are all gone. We just don't have "that guy" any more. We have some good receivers but none of them are game changers.

This is where we see the Jeff Scott void.

Scott got alot of those guys to sign back in those days.

There’s only so much you can say or derive from a practice game. However, and I’ve been saying this for several years, way too many injuries of skill position players….we are definitely doing something wrong in practice. We rank near the top of practice related injuries in college football and it would pay (literally and figuratively) for us to figure it out!

Defense is going to be nasty. We're deep and solid at running back and tight end. Hard to judge QB play when they're playing tag football. I'm not going to read too much from a scrimmage, especially with key pieces of our offense missing from action.
