Probably not the main reason. I don’t think it is a coincidence Collins also announced he is transferring. My bet is they are going to wind up at Michigan State together.

Ikr. Probably a good guess they'll end up at sparty together. He'll be hard pressed to find a better offensive line than the one he played for this season. Because he's not getting any offer from a top 10 program.
Just hope he finds his peace wherever he ends up.

I agree with you about Collins and MSU is certainly possible but i was thinking with Nix leaving that both guys are headed to Eugene to play with DJ's little brother. Go Tigers!!!

If guys like Logan Thomas & Brock Purdy can get drafted I think DJ can as well. Someone will probably take a chance on him in the late rnds. Personally I think his athletic ability & size is NFL caliber but his football IQ is the problem. GO TIGERS!!!

Why is out of hand? Do you think DJ should be forced to stay at Oregon State, a school without a conference? They were a solid member of the Pac12 when DJ made the decision to play there - why would he want to stay when their future is so up in the air? OSU currently has 3 games on their 2024 football schedule. Not saying that I love this new era of college football, but the Oregon State and Washington State players have extenuating situations.

Good job of putting some real thought into the structural problems that are facing OR State (and also WA State) for the upcoming season.
Of course players at either school, especially those with reasonable hopes of playing professional FB somewhere / some day, should be exploring their options at another school.

I’d say that’s a reason to stay at Oregon State. His name is already known. If he puts up video game numbers against inferior opponents next year I’d think it would give him a better shot at having a team take a chance on him. His numbers this year were almost identical to last year and with a third year of the same, that is not a great trend for draft stock.

As the one year QB backup option that is preferred by Dabo, DJU would represent the absolute perfect player. I’d love to have him back in this role; Dabo and G.Riley would as well.
Of course, there is no chance that DJU has given up on his NFL aspirations. Therefore, he’s not coming back here.

I think we should focus on the talent/youth/commits we have already. He could always ditch day one...
DJ could of stayed, he chose to leave. He's a grown man, and sometimes decisions have consequences.
(Plus we don't run a pro-style offense).
Hope he stashed up on BoRounds and Dr. Pepper's.

So...Im thinking OSU DJ made $750k for last year, Michigan St. DJ makes $1.25m/$1.5m...not bad for an amateur sport. He takes the chance that he has a better year to get to the pros NFL/CFL whatever and gets some more $$$ I think it's a smart play.

That is interesting.... I was shaking my head over Collins leaving but you all may be onto something about them wanting to get back together....too many moving parts these days.... who's on first anyway???
In our case I just hope that whoever is leaving does so before the bowl so we can get a jumpstart on next years teams with the bowl practices and the game. I would feel different if it was the playoffs and hopefully this would be happening if it was the playoffs!
