When the latest round of conference alignment went down. USF is in a no win situation.
Maybe Brent Venables can hire him as an OC

I just wonder if Dabo would try and bring Scott back to Clemson? I would hate to see anyone else hire him bc, he was an elite WR's coach, and he got some elite WR's on the roster at Clemson. Two of his WR's are considered to be in the top 10 WR's on NFL teams!!!

First there is almost no chance Scott gets fired after this year as he has 1-2 more years to right the ship. They just got their IPF open and the AD knows better days are ahead. If it did happen there is little chance CJS returns to Clemson. The reasoning is Dabo has never pushed good coaches out so there would only be an analyst position. CJS could easily get an on field position as a coach so why come back to Clemson to be an analyst? Finally CJS was an elite recruiter and a good position coach but not elite.

Wow, Coaches Shaw, Ferentz, and Niumatalolo all have been around for quite a while. I remember when Shaw was a top candidate for openings, including NFL jobs. It seems like Ferentz has been coaching forever, and I remember Niumatalolo being carried off the field on his player's shoulders after wins over Army. Head Coach in college football is an extremely difficult job, and it can be very rewarding. It can also come to a screeching halt!
Coach Scott hasn't been at it as long as many of the others, and obviously neither has Venables. Coach Venables definitely deserves more time to get "his" players in the system. Unfortunately, Coach Scott may be on very thin ice. He may have to do another tour as offensive coordinator for a few years, to rebuild confidence in his abilities. Kinda like when Napier was fired by Dabo here early on. He made the rounds, learning from some of the best. He then turned that knowledge into the Florida gig. JMHO. GO TIGERS!!!

Has that sort of thing ever happened? I’m sure it has but I don’t recall.

I don't ever remember it happening either, but like most, I would love to see Jeff Scott back on the side lines at Clemson, and wearing the Paw gear!!!!

Shaw and Ferentz are about as safe as it gets for a couple more years imo Navy Coach likely as well. Most OU alums I know are ok with BV, they blame Riley as they should imo. Jeff Scott? Unless he finishes the season on a roll I think hes gone, as is Harsin

The only ones on that list that I see getting fired are Harsin and maybe Scott. The others have earned extra time. I think Scott actually has shown to be competitive a few games this year. Satterfield needs time and has shown he can get it done. Shaw and Fitzgerald have academics to blame, much like Duke. Navy you have a limited pool of athletes that want to come there. Jimbo and Venables are both starting out. Ferentz is a possible firing I guess. If you cannot win in the weak Big 10 then maybe you should be fired.
