When you studied science in school, did you ever learn the concept of displacement?
Think back to maybe elementary or middle school.
It blows my mind how you cannot realize as more and more unexpected teams make it into the tournament…that clearly pushes Clemson to the bubble and possibly out.
There are 68 spots and that does not change.
How do you not see this??
Of course Clemson might still get in.
So you don’t need to come rushing to me tonight with an “I told you so.”
I’m just saying it’s asinine to believe we’re a sure thing.

I agree bid stealers are problem, but think we are safe. Oklahoma is the key team. The Sooners won 1 game down the stretch. If we see their name we will be in.

On a serious note, outside of this board, I honestly haven't come across a bracket where Clemson wasn't in - though, I'm also not crawling the Internet to find them too. Just not worth my time if we're being honest.
Hard for me to feel like we're a serious bubble contender that could be knocked out last min when major sports media are reporting us in.
Sure, Clemson can still be left out. Also, Houston can not be a lock because technically they haven't been invited yet - same goes for anyone at this point that's not a tournament champion.
Guess we'll just need to wait until tonight and accept whatever happens

How many times are you going to post about us not being a lock. We will find out later today if we are in or not. You seem like you hope we don't make it. Nothing I've seen has us as any team being considered as on the outside looking in. The guy you keep on referencing that has us out nobody has heard of.

Being that I am a scientist I will go a little more detail into displacement. Displacement does not affect everything at once rather a little bit at a time. When you place a stone in a cup the liquid at the top is displaced and then liquid at the bottom is moved up. Now eventually everything will be displaced if more stones are placed in the cup than water available.
Let's look at the bracket as a cup. As stones (unexpected teams) are put in the cup seeds the lower seeds are moved out. Teams seeded 5,6,and 7 are dropped but not moved out. I believe there are not enough stones to displace a team projected five seed the last week of the season.

From someone that actually understands displacement, I’ll give you an example. In order for a ship to float, water that weighs as much of the ship must be moved out of the way. The ship then takes the place of the water.
Being a projected 6-9 seed, by most of the experts, means there’s a lot of teams that will be displaced before us.

Do you realize those 6 to 9 seeds are normally the very last at-large teams to get in?
Also- how scientific are those seeding projections?
Looks to me like it’s just some guy’s guess so he can get clicks on the internet.
We’ll all find out tonight.
Again…I’m not saying Clemson won’t get in.
I just think there is about a 53.3965% chance we get in, and I wouldn’t be totally comfortable with that if I were you.

There are 32 AQ and assuming worse case scenario all those are bid stealers that leaves 36 at large spots. Clemson is currently 35 in the NET and RPI. They are mathematically in.

As if that’s a big deal and incessantly rambling in the process.
Although Clemson is ending the season in the worst way possible, the early resume wins and some big roads like at UNC are ‘enough’ for most experts.
Obviously none of that is in stone but you take a strange amount of unwarranted pride in playing the other side of the coin.
