Unless I counted incorrectly, there were 150 Awards presented last night at the Clemson Football Awards banquet. Good Lord have mercy! This "Everybody gets a Trophy" philosophy is totally out of control. WE didn't even have awards back when I played there, no banquet, no trophies, nuttin honey. This makes no sense to me and seems like if you present 150 trophies, they all become worth less to the player, but that's just me. "Get Off My Lawn"………

were "incentive awards" like high grades and good deeds they do away from the field. This makes total sense as it gives recognition for things other than being a "star" player. Some players "earned" several awards for that reason.

This...while I am of the belief we as a society tend to reward less than stellar performances and behavior, I have no problem with a bulk of these awards going to players who performed good deeds away from the field or high marks in classes . After all, even if it doesn't seem like it anymore, these guys are still STUDENT athletes

I agree with your take. When you earn something, it’s more of a recognition than an award

Lord knows a little positive reinforcement for people trying to be better human beings, and better themselves is a good thing
