Top 5 Position Battles Pre-Camp

1. Quarterback. Can DJU hold off the youngster - Cade Klubnik and the wylie veteran Hunter Johnson?
2. Center. We had issues here L.Y. with a 1st-time starter at C. Will someone step up?
3. 9 Man WR Spot. Will someone separate and be the top outside WR?
4. Free Safety - I like Phillips there. Can someone step up and contribute for us besides FR?
5. Right Tackle. We can use some depth here - going to be interesting to see who emerges as camp goes on.
Those are the position battles; i'm going to be paying the closest attention to. Is your list similar?

Putnam is going to play center the coaches feel great about him, and unless you’re talking about who is going to play 2nd string, Walker Parks is going to start at RT.
Personally interested in CB, specifically how fast can Pride fight for a starting spot. Wiggins is insane on one side, and Pride was the best cover corner I saw in last years class so I want to see if he can play a lot of meaningful snaps. Also interested to see how Pennington and Tate look at guard.

Clemson Paw ... Why Putnam at Center when Bock got the call last year? Excited about Mukuba, Wiggins, Lukus, and Pride. Greene IMO has been solid. Cade can be a star quickly, but must be given a shot.

Think that Putnam is going to better than Bock at center, he also is going to get more practice there where Bock was just thrust into position.
I think we will be fine at corner, when are we never not with Reed, but I was disappointed that Lukus got injured.
I may be in the minority but I just have not given up on DJ yet. He was going through a lot last year personally, lost confidence in the first game, and then had a bad OL and WR that were just being patched together due to injury. Not trying to make excuses but DJ has done everything this offseason that was asked of him. Cade has also stepped up and added considerably muscle so he should be close to college ready physically should he be needed.

I agree about DJU.
The injuries to others hurt. The injury to him directly hurt even worse. It all added up to a by many programs standards; "really good year"!
We are beyond that being the standard however!
I too think DJU bounces back this season. People will say, "it's because Cade is on campus"! I don't think so. I think with Austin as our OL coach and some of the young guys coming into their own; he will or should be more like the DJU that came in and lit it up for two games his FR year.
I think RT is going to be a battle because of possible OL shuffling. No indictment on Parks.

Lots of youth expected to contribute early if this list ends up being how it ends up.
Looking forward to see what Antonio Williams will do in the slot and what year 2 for Will Taylor will look like there as well.
Praying/Hoping - EJ Williams and Joseph Ngata can stay healthy and live up to their potential! Getting excited waiting for these position battles.
