Townville, SC?

Aug 1, 2015, 8:28 PM

I would love to get people's opinions of Townville, SC. Looking into buying some land there, but I don't know what to expect for Gameday traffic. It also seems pretty removed from things like groceries stores or restaurants, but I'm not sure. I'd appreciate any comments or experiences you have with the area. Thank you and GO TIGERS!

middle of nothing.

Some decent lakefront property on the cheap, but why not? Noone really wants to live there. Can't help you with gameday traffic, but you've seen Clemson traffic, so judge from there.

Lakefront property on the cheap. What's not to like about that? Never thought about it being cheap. May have to check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Gameday traffic is awesome if you're parked near Littlejohn. Head towards Seneca and then take a left onto Wells Hwy.

I went that way after UGA 2 years ago and got on 85 at Exit 11 to head to Greenville

I don't live there but know several families that do

farmers and locals (meaning they pretty much grew up there). All really good people. Close-knit community. There's some pretty land around the lake, not as hilly as northern Oconee/Pickens.

10-15 miles to Clemson or Seneca, or you have to drive to Anderson for most all shopping - there is a Dollar General there, which is the only store in town that's not family-run. Some folks can't handle that, not having a grocery store 5 minutes away, or nothing at all open after dark.

I do know that a couple years ago, they had some crime issues from people coming off the interstate, breaking in houses. Two families I know had their homes broken into. They caught the perps and they were vagrants from another state who made their "living" hitting rural homes off the interstate. I think that was pretty isolated and that problem has stopped. That would be my only issue with the area, with the close interstate access. Some say that's a positive, some would say that is a negative.
