When POTUS shuts down pipelines and stops selling leases for exploration and drilling on public lands then yeah POTUS DOES control the price of oil. And to compound the problem only POTUS can authorize sale of our strategic reserves.
AND when POTUS takes us out of the position of setting the world price of oil he allows our enemies to do that. Putin would have never gone to war with Ukraine without the huge infusion of cash from the sale of Russian oil at inflated prices after POTUS cut our production & export. It was virtually his first executive order

What an idiot!?!?! Are you that politically blinded that you believe that? Of course they trend down closer and closer to election years. That's a critical component of the democratic play book.
Let's get involved in the war mongering. Then when the adverse effects hit the economy, we will funnel our money through the conflict, hype up the propaganda machine and create a value proposition to the American people through their heart strings that these investments are necessary. Then when they've had enough and approval ratings start to tank let's use distribution agreements and subsidiary funds through legislation to bring the economy back up.
