Best Game You've Ever Seen in Death Valley?
Aug 15, 2012, 8:48 PM
|
|
The best overall game (experience and all) I've attended in the Valley would have to be the Clemson-USC game in 2000.
The rivalry, the implications, the competitiveness. And just after the air had been completely deflated from the stadium when USC scored late, Dantzler and Gardner delivered! I remember being able to practically hear crickets when Dantzler threw it up... and the utter explosion of sound from the crowd when Gardner came down with it. Such a great game and moment.
Close follow-ups:
2006 Georgia Tech game 2003 FSU game 2005 Miami game (despite a disappointing loss, I thought it was still a great game)
Thoughts?

The most frustrating game for me was the FSU game in 88. I still have nightmares about that F'in puntrooskie play. I did not want TB as our coach just because of hs relationship to the SOB that planned it. Whippin their a## in Tally the next year helped to ease the pain. Ah the memories........

1. clemson vs south carolina 2000. Last game my senior year. Awesome.
2. Clemson vs georgia tech 2006. Gameday. Spiller's breakout game.
3. Clemson vs Florida State 2005. First time I saw us beat FSU live.

I wasn't able to attend that game, but it will always have a special place in my heart. It was my daughters first game as a student. I called her just as the fly over was taking place and told her how proud i was!

Seriously, FSU in 1993. We lost, but it was the first night game and the anticipation and party atmosphere was unmatched since then. It was an incredible game and the crowd was insane. Too bad they had Charlie Ward.

Notre Dame game in the 70s. Joe Montana was QB, Dan Devine was coach. Devine should have been thrown out of game for going on the field. Noise was unbelievable and that was before stadium expansion. Guesss i am a little older than most of you but I remember it well. By the way we lost the game.

Not my favorite game (due to the loss), but utterly amazing in the sheer amount of noise during those OTs when Miami was trying to get into the student endzone. You could hear the stadium from miles away.

1986 duke game.we won 35-0.after the game my then 7 yr.old daughter remarked that she felt sorry for the "dukes",because they didn't even get a home run that day.i then said to her that she was right and left it at that.it may not have been one of the most important games, but it's always been a great personal memory.

UGA fans came in making fun of our ACC championship signs, boasting, "We talking national championship!" They left a little early--crawling up the steps to the exits. The Tigers were talking national championship that day...on the field.
