UofSC Administration bears responsibility for bad behavior

displayed by "students" at WB Saturday night. First of all, the poor behavior was not limited to students, as I clearly saw several "fans" beyond college age acting irresponsibly. While I was not in attendance at WB for the game, I was closely glued to the televised broadcast as were many. As a Clemson Alum and IPTAY season ticket holder, I was embarrassed for "our great state of South Carolina" and our cherished culture of "southern hospitality" that was tarnished by the poor sportsmanship displayed by some, displayed across America by ESPN for all to see. I believe the administration at SC bears partial responsibility for the poor behavior directed at our Clemson Tiger team and fans. Questions I have are what purpose did the brightly colored security team standing at the end zone field level have? I saw them facing the crowd, but did they do anything to control the menacing antics within the crowd? Where were the security personnel that should have maintained control within the stands? Were any unruly fans removed? I can proudly say, with great appreciation, that the administration at Clemson has provided sufficient security at every area of Memorial Stadium at every game this season such that any incident that needed immediate attention was handled in a professional manner. My season ticket seats are located adjacent to the South Upper Deck student section, and I can recall more than one occasion this past season where "situations" were immediately addressed by the security personnel monitoring that portion of the stadium. From my vantage point, never did I witness objects being thrown onto the field of play or sideline areas. Never did I witness derogatory gestures being displayed at any individual or team. I believe it is evident to all who attend Clemson athletic events that our university truly is all about "FAMILY", not only in word, but also in practice and culture. While the university cannot control the actions of every "fan" who comes on campus, it can and MUST develop a culture of responsibility and respect. I am proud of the culture Coach Swinney and his staff, AD Radacovich, and the Clemson University Administration, Faculty and most importantly STUDENTS, have developed and continued to maintain! Regardless of our athletic teams' win/loss records, our Tiger Integrity is our most important achievement!

Great post and I agree except for one statement, "administration at SC bears partial responsibility". I would change that to "administration at SC bears TOTAL responsibility. Every uscjr supporter, donor (major or minor), fan should be clamoring for changes. The silence from the administration is stunning. Is the faculty senate not concerned. Anyone who truly thinks it's a few bad apples is delusional.
Start tossing underage drinkers in jail overnight will end it. Better yet, start suspending and expelling students. The longer they ignore it, the worse it's going to get.

fan by sending a letter to the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. Something along the lines of we'll never come to another game in Columbia, so therefore our money won't be spent on parking, Ubering, lodging, food, & entertainment. Kinda like the $2 bill effect. Put a dent in their economy & see what happens.
Go Tigers AND Tiger Nation(al Champs!)!

No changes will be made until someone gets hurt. Actually, our Tigers are protected, but the troopers, the sideline media, and others with sideline passes are not protected. I hope the person who gets hurt by a flying bottle sues scar for a bundle.
