Unless FSU self destructs before the playoffs I think it’s Norvell. He played the transfer game well and is a decent coach so if you give him that type of budget for NIL he can compete with Bama and LSU. These types of things usually don’t happen unless they have a pretty good line on their next guy. Unless you’re Auburn of course.

When was the last time a school hired a coach from another school, fired him, then went back to that same school?
If Norvell were at any other school and had done what he has done at FSU, then he would be a logical target. But, now way will they go after an FSU coach.

Sometimes you avoid a situation just because of the obvious stories that will follow. You want a solid home-run hire to redirect the story of the buyout, and poaching a coach from the same school you just tried extends the "Jimbo Failure" story
