NOTABLE UPSETS THIS WEEKEND

First and foremost, I would like to say that I missed out on "HOPEFUL UPSETS" for Week 7. So, I will review some notable upsets that actually occurred this week which I believe will help Clemson, should they win out the rest of the schedule.
(23) Kansas v Oklahoma State - This at least bumps Kansas out of the Top 25 and should allow Clemson to be ranked in the Top 25 again. Very significant results from this one even though it was two teams that aren't in the playoff run.
(14) Louisville v Pittsburgh - To be honest, I did not see this one coming because Louisville looked like a national contender. While Louisville lost in an embarrassing fashion to a 2-4 Pittsburgh team, I don't believe they fall out of the Top 25. However, Pitt is still 2-4 and will not enter the rankings which should boost Clemson even more.
(10) USC v (21) Notre Dame - I called it last week whenever I said that its traditional for USC to start their 4-game losing streak. They enter each season ranked in the Top 10 for no reason and usually end up being in the Meineke Car Care Bowl or some other lower tier bowl game in the end. It usually occurs about mid-season. Notre Dame will be ranked in the Top 15 and if Clemson beats them this season, it will boost the rankings for Clemson even further. However, don't count of USC to drop out of the Top 25 for a couple of more weeks.
Missouri v (24) Kentucky - This Kentucky loss should definitely free up some room for Clemson to be ranked in the Top 25 as well. Kentucky will be out of the Top 25.
Other Notable Games
Some games didn't involve upsets but also have an impact on Clemson's rank entering Week 8.
(8) Oregon v (7) Washington - Yes, it was a close game between two Top 10 Ranked teams. However, Oregon took a loss and will drop in the rankings which should boost Clemson to a degree.
(25) Miami v (12) UNC - Miami as usual is a fraud and the "U" is far from being back. In fact, they haven't won a conference game yet. This loss for Miami will boost Clemson for sure. Especially if Clemson wins this coming Saturday against Miami.
(18) UCLA v (15) Oregon State - While this game is not an upset by any means, with UCLA having two losses on the Season, they have no business being ranked. Clemson should get a boost from this game result. Thanks, DJU...
OTHER NOTES:
Clemson still needs Duke to lose to FSU and UNC. If that happens, Duke is eliminated from the ACC run. Clemson still needs to beat UNC and have UNC take two more losses to eliminate them from ACC Championship hopes. Should that happen, Clemson will rematch Florida State. Louisville is still in the running but would need to lose two more games as well. It will be tight, but Clemson still has a slight chance for a rematch with FSU in the Conference Championship Game. Should Clemson win the Conference Championship game, it could open a door for Clemson to attend the Playoff.

Our path to Charlotte has more potholes than just about any South Carolina road. As of today, there is no path for a 2 loss team to make Playoffs and I don't see that changing because there are too many teams without a loss or only 1 loss.

I still think the Cards will navigate the rest of their schedule without a loss. Duke, Virginia, VT, and a fading Miami (on the road). 3 home games. Maybe Leonard is back for Duke and they take a loss there in a couple weeks.

three ACC games and we would need to remain at two losses to pass them. That’s not happening.

Now..now…now all of these “fans” on the board have spoken and we have already lost 2 to 3 more games!! They are better coaches than the 2 TiME National Championship coach that we have so do not doubt their words!!!

Ideally, we need Duke to beat Louisville, and lose to FSU and UNC. Then we would need for Louisville to take a loss to either VT, Virginia, or Miami. Which could happen considering all things. Afterall, they did lose to Pittsburgh in a dominated fashion. VT has moments of brilliance followed by inconsistent play this season. They can still be dangerous though. Miami may pull out the upset at home. It can happen.

Not if there is a 3 way tie breaker. Then it goes to the highest ranked I think. Assuming we win out, that will make us the highest ranked as we would rise and the others would fall.

Duke has to lose 3 games. Unc only needs 2 losses. We have to beat them and have them lose to someone else.
It's hard to see Duke losing 3. Possible. Highly unlikely.

The other kid does not look bad. Elko is a freaking defensive mastermind. Look at Dukes defensive rankings nationally.
They are solid on both sides of the ball.

Not sure what Chester is thinking. Duke hasn't lost. Assuming they lose to fsu and unc. Assuming we run the table, unc would have to most likely lose to Miami and us. So if it ends up being
Fsu- undefeated
Duke- 2 loss
Unc- 2 loss (one being us)
Clemson - 2 loss
We would hold the tie breaker over unc, right? Head to head?
But that scenario Duke would hold tie breaker over us, because of head to head, right? Or does head to head not matter?

My understanding is we need Duke to lose 3 conference games. Chesty refers to "two more," but ND was non-conference. That only helps us to the extent rankings come into play (I believe). Obviously, whatever tie breakers comes into play, we have a LOT of work to do before that.

generous early season ranking always mystifies me.
Well, them and ND.
Sure -- Clemson could finish strong and an asteroid could wipe out half the SEC and Tallahassee and thus open the door for a CFP berth, too, I guess.
Getting stomped by Tenn in the orange bowl hurts a little but following it with the Duke debacle and losing to FSU at home and sleepwalking against Wake --- again at home -- are all just horrific for recruiting.
If they lose to both ND and UNC at home (GaTetch should be an easy win) ... Katie, bar the door.

You have to win games to advance to bigger games -- we lost two (2)!!!! and now don't control our own destiny -- as Dabo says quite often,worry about the things you can control and the rest will take care of itself -- come on Tigers ,""WIN OUT"" and then let's see what happens ???? and where we go ???

Jesus H Christ !! How delusional does one have to be to be still plotting for Clemson top get into the playoffs.
The only championship that the Tigers have a chance at is the state championship - and that's a 50/50 right now.
If one cannot let go of their delusions - and try to enjoy the kids progress over the course of this year - then one is setting themselves up for misery.
