In that scenario, I think Utah gets the 4th spot.***

As long as we also win in that scenario, I won't care.
I will be ecstatic that we get to play UGA in the first round of the playoff rather than LSU or OSU.
I don't think we are overmatched vs LSU or OSU by any means, but I will take the perceived easier path to the championship every time.

If Georgia wins, no way they're left out of the CFP...

If Utah wins, the only question is does LSU or Utah get the 4th spot.
That said, I don't think UGa beasts LSU.

For real, not happening, everything will sort itself out.
1. LSU 2. OSU 3. Clemson 4. Utah
UGA, Oregon, and Baylor lose. OU goes to #5

I just can't see how they leave LSU out

it's unfortunate but unless UGA destroys them I just can't see a way. The strong schedule narrative will be in full flight.

I’m leaning that way as well; however,

it’s a nightmare scenario for the committee.
If they leave out a 1-loss conference champion for a 1-loss non-conference champion, the precedent will be set.
The PAC12 will boycott (rightfully so), and maybe even the BIG12 with their 1-loss champion. I suppose it would probably force the committee’s hand to expand the playoff.
So in reality, I think they would have to leave LSU out in that scenario, on principle alone.

To think that the committee will do anything else just isn't feasible.

The committee will have a hard time justifying taking a 12 - 1 team that just lost over a 12 - 1 team that just won a conference championship on Friday.

I don't think they'll have a hard time doing it at all.

They would take massive heat either way, so might as well go with the $$$.

On what planet is UGA going to outscore LSU?
UGA defense WILL give up passing yards. They have every time they have been on the big stage. They have padded their stats on D by playing the chitty offenses of the SEC and ND

Stats-wise, UGA's defense is on par with Clemson's. A class-AA offense is going against a class-AA defense.
The other half of the ledger is where the difference will be: is LSU's marginal defense better w/r/t Georgia's marginal offense, or vice versa? I have no idea, but this is not going to be a blowout, unless one team just doesn't show up.

They will get hung out to dry by their offense

As usual. I think they will be on the field a lot and it’s not going to be pretty.
I don’t know maybe LSU is too stupid to stack the box and force UGA to throw... that’s the only way I see a close game

LSU hasn't faced but 1 good defense and they were an average offense only putting up 23 points. UGA has a run game Auburn doesn't, UGA is going to be able to have ball control against that average at best defense LSU has and that's how UGA will hang in there. If they can't do that it's over.

If UGA barely wins the top 4 will remain the top 4. Not a chance of Utah jumping UGA after UGA would win against #2 and Utah beats #13.... Why would UGA fall for winning.

UGA is in with a win...but is LSU in with a lose? They wouldn’t be conference champions and there could be 2 other 1-loss conference champions.
