I been trying to post the video of Venables talking about coaching pressure, tension, and intensity but don’t know how. I think this is what everyone is talking about missing at Clemson right now. Pretty good video if you have time to look it up and or post it. GO TIGERS!!!!

I guess you cannot say #### Butkus anymore, it gets deleted. Try Richard Butkus. Maybe that will slide past the over-used censorship on Tnet.

If you have been to a Clemson practice the past couple of years, you realize.......THIS is what is missing at Clemson. BV says "Yes you can practice and prepare for intensity and pressure." We no longer do that. Seldom is there any real contact and mostly just standing around in shorts and pads, doing agility drills, etc. When BV left, he took with him the "Pressure & Intensity" he brought to practices and games.

I have wondered for years if this contact stuff was an issue. A while back there was discussion of how practices were all “thudding” no tackling. Is that still the case?

"It's our job to put the players in uncomfortable situations. To make it as difficult as possible. To challenge them. To see how they respond under adversity. Football ain't easy. It's difficult. It's hard. It's our job to get them to respond in practice. Because if they won't respond in practice they sure as hell aren't gonna respond in a game." (paraphrased)
I appreciate that reporter's question, but it is more of an indication of a question from a guy who has never played the game (football, basketball, baseball, soccer, whatever) at a level higher than Little League.

That his sideline enthusiasm will not be replaced but will be needed. You could see how his actions affected the play on the field.
Wes may be a great coach but he lacks that contagious behavior that urges the players to be great on every snap!

BV is missed on so many levels. Dabo prides himself on creating motivation. He needs to up his game and build a staff that can do this as well. It almost feels like this program has become very insular where we act like it is us against the world and we're spending too much time trying to manage impressions and not enough time finding root causes and fixing them within our program.
I know this is totally anecdotal but the culture that we pride ourselves in just seems off right now. It seems like a mentality of playing not to lose rather than playing to win. The guys don't look like they are playing freely and they also don't look like they are having much fun. This cloud of worry seems to have permeated the entire program and I think the biggest concern is that they are having trouble figuring out how to turn it around in short order.
