This 'salty one' is a granddad! :)

Ari - 2 months/Elliott - one week (and clearly skeptical about what he's gotten himself into!)

Spoiling them is fun. When my first grandchild was about four I took him out and while we were in the store I bought him a Mountain Dew and some Reese’s peanut butter cups. When I got him home he was wired and my daughter asked me why I gave it to him and I said, “because that’s what he wanted.” Meanwhile I went home and left her to deal with him.

I have 4 grandsons and two grand daughters, at 71, nothing has ever filled my heart with unconditional love and happiness since the two days that my 2 daughters were born.

My youngest has passed on, but that feeling when both were born is still just as alive today as it was way back then. The sorrow I feel from losing one daughter is still fresh, but the overwhelming love I've had for her since the day she was born is still as fresh as it was the day she was born, But, my heart breaks everyday since she has been gone from my everyday life, and it doesn't get any easier as time ticks by...

Wow, I'm sorry about high jacking this thread about the loss of my daughter bc I know that no one wants those kinds of thoughts in their head of what if's, if you were in a space where you've lost a child, and that truly wasn't my intentions. But it happens when I get involved talking about the grands, my mind goes straight to my heart and the thought of my personal loss of my youngest daughter, and I'm truly sorry for bringing those kinds of thoughts back to ones that has lost a child, even the ones that's come close to losing a child.

I to love all my grands 4 of then are great, but I have two that are coot fans, and nobody can actually be great with the coots in their heart.

I do think that when grand parents have as many grandkids as I have, unlike your kids, you will have a favorite or two with your grandkids. I do have a grandson that couldn't be any closer to me than if he was my son, and we do a lot of things that I imagine I would have done with a son if I would've had a son. So, I love all my grandkids, but if there ever come a time that I would have to choose between any but one of my grandkids and their parents, my daughters would overwhelmingly have my vote whether they were right or wrong. But grand kids are awesome, and they are the ones that will carry your name into history helping with the family tree branching out...

My love and my thoughts of her never take any time off, and that's the way that it should be for any parent that has lost a child. She was 40 when she passed away, but she will always be a child for me bc she was my child...

Trust me, two would have made your life even more exciting. I wanted a grandson, but after the two girls came into our life, we made a conscious decision to stop it at two kids bc we didn't feel that it would be right or fair adding to our family when we already knew there had to be a college fund for two right then, and we didn't feel we could have afforded college for 3 when we knew that making it possible for two was going to be hard enough. We were right bc by the time my girls were ready for college, that was the time that a college education started exploding out of sight for most parents, and if me and my wife hadn't started a college fund for my girls right after daughter #2 arrived, we would have been way up crap creek with hole in the boat and no paddles!!!
